What I appreciate is that you don't just do technical analysis - you also examine the cultural, legal, ethical, and historical context and follow breadcrumbs that aren't necessarily immediately connected, like the Method Studios angle in this video. I wouldn't care as much about this channel if it was just VFX breakdowns, but you bring the full package, and I can't get enough.

Honestly, if he had some way of advertising himself better than just releasing videos and hoping the algorithm favored him, he'd probably have millions of subs. The production quality and content is fucking top notch, but he uploads only like once a month, so KZbin just fucks his channel. My only idea to solve this would be if he adopted a more traditional, TV-style release schedule where he queues up like 8 videos to be released once a week and then takes a break from uploading for a year to make more videos. as a viewer, I prefer how he does it now, but maybe changing the release schedule could help his growth? Idk, just want more videos lol

I've been a motion designer for around 15 years and this is by far my most loathed trend. It's annoying how hard it has become to find the source of a good idea these days because there is just so much cloned noise out there. And the clones keep getting farther away from 'inspired by...' and closer to the realm of 'carbon copy'. Accessibility sure comes at a hefty price. Awesome video as always, keep it up!

It may seem harsh to some people but I live with a 0 - Like policy. If I can't find the original source within a few clicks, I'm not liking, or subscribing or anything. Too often do I find reposts, stolen content, copies, memes of other memes... it's just dumb. Unless I'm watching a channel or user I know like CD I don't bother giving likes or anything. I just feel that my actual "votes" should be saved for people actually creating something new if i can help it.
@nibblrrr71245 жыл бұрын
It's kinda ironic that traditional copyright law gives an incentive to hide your influences & inspirations, lest they can find & sue you more easily... But yeah, those low-quality "content aggregators" are annoying. Not giving proper credit is not only scummy, it also robs viewers of the opportunity to explore more by the creator of something they like.

The state of art being plagiarized just like that without crediting the original artist is just terrible. What a world we live in.

How_may_I_offend_ you they’re saying it’s sad how much art is plagiarized. There’s been a lot of cases of big companies taking the styles of independent artists and making money off of it without crediting the person who made it

I discovered this account a couple weeks ago and I am just astounded. The amount of work put in is quite clear. Instead of a monotonous VFX breakdown, you invariably deliver captivating and entertaining videos! Thanks!

Andy and Kiyen have both put modern tools to work in brilliant artistic ways! You always give an excellent overview of the technology but you won't inspire better creativity by shrugging off people's heroes. Liars and charlatans deserve to be taken down but these two are just making honest and exciting art.
@Cyrribrae6 жыл бұрын
I think his point was exactly that kiyen isn't getting the credit he deserves from either creatively designing or expertly creating this really cool effect nor from inspiring the commercially successful work that others have done after. I think CD is clearly very positive on Kiyen. And now I am too

He probably doesn't even move in his videos. He just takes a still picture and warps it using editing to make him seem like he's moving and talking. Don't fall for his tricks. He's too good at editing to actually open his mouth and talk.

Oh, that was some serious shade you threw at Andy Serkis! 😂 His performance was extraordinary, IMO. :P
@FakeMoonRocks5 жыл бұрын
And Andy Serkis shouldn't be blamed for forming an overly high opinion of his own performances since it's other people's fault for showering him with accolades and high praise for simply crouching and jumping around in a body suit with balls attached...66.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lk0llsWycB1qbu2p6o1_400.jpg ...like you just did.

Xiaolin Draconis Fun fact! Meta balls were created for the movie flubber . Meta balls are only used in one current software that CD and I both happen to use , so they really aren't well known .
@katrinal3536 жыл бұрын
+B_D_W_S Depends on what you mean by "not well known". They're not fringe, they're used pretty often, and you can make them in pretty much any video editing software and graphics engine out there. It's pretty much the only way to make liquid particle effects in video games. I use them in procedural generation too.
@bDwS276 жыл бұрын
Katrina L by " not well known " I mean exactly that. Meta balls are mostly used in 3d software , and most 3d software users don't know much about using them. You are deffenitly right about them not being fringe, but they aren't as talked about or used daily like UVs, topology, or texturing, they're like a crazy weekend subject haha . P.s. what kind of procedural generation, like practicals with force fields, or what? I'd love to know!
