One thing I love about your videos is the price of items. I know another KZbinr who just posted the last few days about doing convenience store food in Japan also and got fancier stuff and I was curious how much he had to pay for those items. Here I can see exactly how much each item you got to make an idea of what a meal could cost.
@DirtyRobotАй бұрын
Shopping in Japan is a high skill effort. You need to identify your core purchases and then do price comparisons by location and on a daily basis. You can often halve the cost by smart shopping. Eggs... In one place it is 138 for 10 eggs, another place is 248 for the same 10 eggs. Pork... I can go for 248 to 356 per 100g or on Thursdays in one location I can get it for 88 per 100g. Cabbage... I can pay 300 per head or 98 per head. I can walk 20 meters across the street and by doing my shopping split between two places save myself 3000 yen on a basic shopping run.
@eierkopp595Ай бұрын

We have pretty good grocery store sushi here in Texas. Not OMG crazy good, but made by sushi chefs at the stores, most have little sushi counters where you can watch. You can get 15 pieces for between $7-$13, depending on what kind you order, and what store you are at... One store has great $7 Sushi/Sushiya Wednesdays, where you can choose between several things that are then prepared, in-store, by one of their sushi chefs. Free delivery or watch them make it in the store. We add 6 butterflied tempura shrimp for around $4.75 - $5.50, and it is a big meal for two for around $20. We have almost a million people of Asian heritage living in Houston, and lots of fresh seafood too, and I think that helps!!

When the cheapest mayonnaise was $3.85 today, I gave up on having a tuna sandwich, and bought a dozen shrimp dumplings for $3.99 instead. They were great! 😄
