I have a lot of neurosis around food because I was raised by a grandmother who couldn't cook to save her life but would never let me try. I'm always super reluctant to try new foods as a result, but your videos are legitimately why I've started trying new things, because you make all these new foods actually look good, and I've never encountered anyone else who has been able to do that.

My only complaint about Buldak is that sometimes you can’t taste the good flavor over the heat. I like to use less of the spicy packet just so I can taste the great flavor (and save the rest to put in spaghetti or chili).

We lived in Singapore in the 1970's and instant noodles were only just coming in then. When we got back to New Zealand we had to get them from the Chinese specialty shops, but our local Chinese fruit and vege shop started selling them because we asked for them. I still love them - had some for lunch today.

The amount of plastic used in food preparation in East Asia is excessive. Obviously instant foodstuff is very popular with the populations but the packaging needs to be managed responsibly. It’s of little wonder that pollution is rife in poorer areas with illegal dumping and rivers being obstructed. We in the West are no saints when it comes to our ‘cheap’ plastic use and subsequent careless disposal but, at the present time, we don’t have the same desire to use these types of convenience food retailers or visit self service automated kiosks - however, I wouldn’t be surprised if that changes. Where there is a profit to be made then conservation goes out the window…..

...I always wonder this when I see these kinds of comments. What are you doing? Seriously. What are you doing to mitigate plastic use? Not only your own, but other people's too. And I ask specifically about other people, because you decided to comment on other people, even though, I suspect you haven't thought through why they use plastic, might actually need to use plastic, or any number of other reasons that they use plastic. It's very easy to point at something and say, that's bad stop doing that. It's much harder to figure out why people are doing it and then figure out a way to help them stop doing that.
