I miss Tom, but if anyone was going to replace him, Alfonso is a much better fit for this show. Having competed (and won) in the show, he understands better than most that it's not just about one person having their diva moment but about everyone sharing in their collective love for dance. And to have both hosts be able to join in on the opening dances is a wonderful nod to that sentiment. I feel like I can finally enjoy watching this show again.

I think they don't want to tax the celebs too much, particularly for those that don't have much dance experience. I expect later in the season when usually the better dancers are left, they will have them dance more in the opening
