All of the queens seem very confident so I am excited to see how the season goes! The mini challenge this episode was iconic!!! AND We also go to finally meet the pit crew!!! The mini challenge had the queens climbing a long 10 foot pole with the assistance of the pit crew! The queens were having so much fun and it was a lot of fun to watch them!! They are so funny. Then for the main challenge the queens had to create looks out of flowers!! What did you think of the 2nd episode?!?! Who do you want to win?? The Philippines is a religious country devoted heavily to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Flores de Mayo (Mayflower Festival) is a yearly festival held during the Month-long May devotions to the Blessed Virgin. In the final week of the May festival, Santacruzan is celebrated along with Sagala - a religious and historical pageant honoring Helena of Constantinople in their search for the True Cross of Jesus Christ wherein young women (and sometimes gay people) dress up as the different representations of Mary Mother of God as Queen of Heaven and Earth. Palosebo is one of the traditional activities during festivals all over the country where a tall bamboo pole is heavily greased and the players are required to climb up to the very top to retrieve the flag. The real gag is that usually the prize money is either 500 pesos (roughly 50 dollars) but the queens get the chance to bag 20,000 pesos (at least 400 dollars)

That mini challenge of climbing the bamboo pole is actually a game that we do in some festivals here in PH. Children in villages would climb that pole to get the flag on top but they pour some oil on the bamboo to make it more challenging.

For me its the right call. Eva's top was good but the bottom part was a meh.. even tho precious lost her shape the dress was fully realize. I would say also, Brigiding is higher than Evas this week. If Brigiding bulk it up on the bottom part cause as can see her panty is showing 😆

At the closing part, i think paolo says "Can I get an 'eme' instead of 'amen'. 'Eme' (eh-meh) is quite universal and can be used in a lot of different ways, but it is commonly used as " just kidding". It is very filipino, because we love to throw jokes or insults, but we always follow it up with "just kidding". You may also notice that there are a few subtitles saying just kidding, or something to that effect because we like to keep things light and fun.

Sagala is a parade and a part of Santacruzan ( a ritual pagaent ) that occurs during tye celebration of flores de mayo dedicated to Virgin Mary as a devotion event. You can see Women dressed up in terno ( filipiniana dress or the butterfly sleeve dress ) while 2 male escorts carrying an arch decorated with flowers and says what role the girls are representing. Such as Reina Fe (Faith), Reina Esperanza (Hope), Reina Caridad (Charity), Reina Mora (Muslim), Reina Banderada (Flag), and Reina Justicia (Justice) + Reyna Elena and Reyna Emperatriz

(i think) Kinginamo translates to "Your mother is a bitch!" And since they changed it from king to kween it now translates to "Your mother is a queen"

Sagala means like parade which closer to Santacruzan, Santacruzan is an event of Florez de mayo which celebrates the Saints and patrions. Santacruzan is a parade where beautiful Queen's wearing beautiful gowns roam around town to church. Another fun fact is that mini challenge called "Palosebo". Where competitors will have to climb a bamboo pole covered in oil to make it slippery and attempt to get the flag on the top. Palosebo is actually a male dominated sport. People usually make fun of gays who wants to try it. And now seeing THE GAYS finally having the opportunity to play something that has been taken away from them on NATIONAL TV, is really a big win for our community. Especially for the Filipino gays.

they call it palo sebo, since they had to climb that bamboo pole sometimes greased (sebo) so it is hard to climb up.. done usually in festivals mostly in provinces! funniest mini challenge so far. sagalamazon is mostly derived from the word SAGALA. done during month of may, queens and flowers (religious fest)… mostly dream come true for gays to be queens who are mostly escorts back in the day instead of becoming queens for the parade… im happy to see my filipino culture onscreen indeed.👏🏼

Love this video! And looovvveee this episode! Just a fun fact "Sagala" is a traditional Filipino parade starred by beautiful women all over the town. They parade with their escorts wearing their ternos and an arc which is held by 2 people. Sagala is actually the highlight of "Flores de Mayo" or the Flowers of May, annually every summer where "fiestas" are being celebrated all over the country. Thankfully, as we little by little appreciate diversity, a lot of gays are now being the stars of Sagala calling it "Sagayla". They parade at the afternoon and by night, they will have a pageant.

The male guy or partner in the sagala is actually called ‘consort’ … because the queens are parading. This tradtiion is done every May where almost all festivals are being held Also. The last lines Paolo is saying is “can we get an EME up in here’ , eme being a gay term which can be have different meanings (im not really sure what it does mean :D )
