I built a bigger and deeper pond for my various adult goldfish. I transferred them to bags by hand, released into the smaller pond to finish by hand.. Then putting them back it was all done by hand. No damage to fins etc by nets. I'm glad you do the transfer with hands too.

I find it very cute that you handle your fish with your hands, I used to own a couple of giant eyes fish ( I don't know the actual name for them) and I hand fed them and they would love being pet. They lived a long life and they died after I bought new fish that had ick.

I always used to pour fish in slowly (i always got my fish from petshops), when i get a bigger tank and a coulple more fish I'll use my hands, i now know that is the proper way, even though i have never had problems doing it the way i have, the new way i have learnt from this should be more beneficial. Oh WOW!!!! They're beautiful!!!! We don't have beautiful goldfish like that in my country. I'm from Trinidad & Tobago, and we only get Comets, Common goldfish and Black telescopic moors. I've searched and hunted everywhere to find an Oranda, and I found two places that sell them, however, they were TT$300 each :( That's almost US$50 each. I recently started a 60gal (still cycling) and your videos mean the world to me, really taught me a lot. Thanks and please keep them coming. I appreciate them.

Depends on the fish! If you're going to have goldfish, only one is best. If you're looking at smaller tropical fish, like guppies, tetras, etc., you could comfortably fit around 7-10, absolutely no more than 15.

Transferring the goldfish with your hands is the proper way to do it. You want to get as little of the shipping bag water in the tank as possible, because it's usually very dirty and who knows what it could be contaminated with.

The shipping water is usually chock full of crazy levels of antibiotics, etc -- every fish I've ever had shipped, the water in the bag was yellow. Not because it was filthy, but because of how many meds they put in there. The meds can really hurt the beneficial bacteria in your cycled tank, and water of unknown origin can carry parasites, disease, etc. You can see in the video, she scoops the fish out very gently and carefully with her hand rather than a net. Netting can cause undue stress, and with those delicate butterfly tails I'd be too scared of damaging their beautiful fins with netting. I'd say she did everything exactly right, and you can tell how much love and care she gives these beautiful fish. :)

yes you can keep goldfish with other species of fish. However, goldfish are cold water fish. They can handle temps much lower than a tropical fish, which are what you have. goldfish are also very dirty. they need high levels or filtration to deal with their waste materials. I don't personally recommend that you keep golds with anything but other golds. also side note, you can keep better with other fish. you just can't keep them with males of the same species in less than 100 gallons of water,or they will beat each other up.
