When considering where to travel in Croatia it's natural that Split features on the list - its coastal, central and home for a lot of boats and tours... oh and its obviously beautiful. What about Trogir? Ever heard of it?
Trogir is a UNESCO World Heritage site and small town thats a great alternative to Split. It's a lot more chilled than Split, a small island only and has a distinctive old town feel to it.
Trogir cathedral, Fortress Kamerlengo Castle and the old town are the highlights - but the town has a small town feel with a big time charm. If you're considering where to go after Split or want some where to escape the pace for a little while definitely add Trogir to your list.

Super happy that you like Croatia. By the emptiness of Trogir and the fact that you went to the second voyage of the boat, I'd say that you guys were there maybe end of May, early June. Trogir gets very busy in July and August, Split even worse

@@DanegerAndStacey definitely more quiet than May or beginning of June. What confused me was that you were on the maiden voyage with the boat and usually these type of cruises and boats get renovated for the beginning of season and not the end

Trogir is a beautiful town and busy in summer. If your staying there a few days a day trip to town of Sibenik one hour North would be great and the great Krka waterfall national park. On the way up on the coastal road is also the great town of Primosten where you can visit the Virgin Mary statue made from Mozaik on the hill at sunset for an amazing view.

Ha ha loved the blooper at the end! Great feature to include. Also the "in depth" football analysis from Stacey! I like the way you guys always find somewhere off the main path to get that more authentic and chilled out feeling. This location fits the bill perfectly. That coastline must be teeming with amazing locations to explore. Talking of exploring, news from my cruise ship bound son is that Tallinn (Estonia) has an epic old city to explore and Helsinki (Finland) is pretty awesome too. He heads for St Petersburg, Russia next.So perhaps a Baltic tour could be a future D & S adventure?

“The real Dalmatians are Italians, and particularly Venetians, in the fullest acceptation of the word: - they speak the language, have the same manners, customs, and religion; the same craftiness as those people... Hence we find the inhabitants of those countries [Dalmatia and Istria] to consist of Italians in the towns and burghs on the coast; Morlachians in some isles and in the vallies...” -Louis François Cassas, Travels in Istria and Dalmatia, 1805 The the austrians and croatians came and wiped out everything that was italian in dalmatia.......

Lorenzo, my friend, croats inhabited dalmatia in the end of 5th and during 6th century, they mixed with Latin(Romans) and domestic dalmatians(iliryans) and have almost same cultural and traditional behaviour like all coastal Mediterranean people, including Greek and Turks, Italians or French people.. So,if you ask someone from dalmatia they will say they are croats, slavs from southeast of Europe, don't be biased, even modern Italians have 75%origins of ancient Romans, you get my point right!?
@Caleidus
@Caleidus 3 жыл бұрын
@@role6159 It seems that this British guy did not witness in 1887 all this mixed society. "...Throughout the middle ages this distinction of Latin and Slav was never lost; it survives to the present day (1887) and is the key to the proper intelligence of Dalmatian politics. Till the last few years the Italians have had things pretty much their own way; but since the great uprising of the Slav nations of the interior of the Balkan peninsula the Croats of Dalmatia have bestirred themselves, and with the aid of the Austrian Government are trying to Slavonize the Latin cities and to stamp out the Italian language. ... I, for one, cannot contemplate without regret the possibility of the extinction of an ancient culture and the suppression of an ancient tongue which can boast an uninterrupted descent from the Roman Empire.” -T.
