I want to add one thing! If you have a driver license then go rent a car at the airport or book the car before flight. Then go on a road trip behind the Biokovo mountains and just explore. I spent a full day deep in there, I found castle ruins, the 2 water holes called blue and green lake, small towns and tragic views from the war where there's bombed houses and people moving back after the war to build their houses again. The nature in there is amazing too, and I went on a road trip from Podgora to Dubrovnik, and the shifting nature took the breath out of me! It was the most beautiful experience in my whole life. First a drive through the coast line and then deeper in to the country, we ended up on a long street in the middle of the swamps where it felt like the rain forest or something and people where having stands selling fresh fruits on the side of the road. Well, I can't explain it in words and I wish I filmed it all :D I really recommend Croatia!

TIP for traveling with a bus: they can take you to any part of the country for a really affordable price. Just check if the bus is taking a highway (in which case it’s not that long of a journey) or local roads (then it becomes quite a long one). If you travel from capital (Zagreb) to mid coastal area (Zadar, Šibenik) it will take your around 4 hours by highway. Enjoy your stay!

I would really love to visit Croatia if I had the money. I have roots there on my maternal grandmother's side. Even though I'm also Slovak (paternal grandparents) and Polish (maternal grandfather), I embrace my Croatian side the most, because I have many fond memories of growing up with my grandma and her brothers and sisters. I don't really remember any Croatian dishes (I had plenty of Slovak ones), but my grandmother taught me a few words. Of course these were in her later years, and I don't know the spellings or if they're 100% accurate, but she gave me zima (cold), deshpada (it's raining), and schnekpada (it's snowing).

Nice video, Mark! Just a couple of corrections: 0:29 Krk is a town on an island also named Krk. National park is called Krka. If you're buying a bus ticket online, you probably wouldn't want to mix the two :) (although visiting any of them will be worthwhile) 8:12 Pula has a Roman amphitheater, not a Colosseum. Colosseum is a proper name of one particular Roman amphitheater (of about twenty that survived the millennia), the one in Rome.

Here is one thing with money. ATMs usually dispense 200 kn and 100 kn notes. Even 100 kn is a large amount of money for daily purposes so please try to avoid coming to a small corner shop and buy like a bottle of water and paying with those. Same goes even more for city buses. If you want to get away from places crowded with tourists go to one of the smaller inland towns. Just pick one or two and go there. I think that people will be happy that someone cares about them. It's funny because we get so many tourists but in the inland towns there are almost none. On that note, if you plan to travel around Slavonia I'd suggest renting a car because the transport in that direction leaves a lot to be desired. From Zagreb there are only two trains to Osijek a day and about 8 or so buses. One additional advantage to going there is that prices aren't "adjusted for tourists". Similar story is for the northern and central Croatia except that the connections are much better.

@ncteainncity85595 жыл бұрын
Somewhere yes, somewhere no. There's mostly no traffic where I come from (Dalmatia), so I think it's better to drive. Plus, we only have buses and no subway in Dalmatia, so if there was traffic it would be a problem anyway. In Trogir, there used to be a lot of traffic over summer, especially when you're passing one of the bridges, which is most of the time because there are a lot of bridges in Trogir, but that might have been fixed, because a new bridge was just built there. Happy traveling and you're always welcome to our country!
