Bro I know you don’t know who am but I saw you at the green race. I’ve always know of you since I was a kid cause my stepmom was a kayaker in Asheville when I was growing up. I like kayaking but I’m not good haha but I have been a raft guide on the broad for 6 years and I’ve always loved watching your videos. You inspired me to do the Zambezi through your videos so I I’m actually here now in Livingstone. I’m goin to go to saf par later and see if I can sight up for tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration.

It is unbelievable how effortless you make class V+ rapids look... I could paddle everyday for the rest of my life and still wouldn't even come close to having a paddling style as fluid and flawless as yours.

I remember the hike out too well. At the time I was at my fittest and it was still a hard slog though we did have to carry our own boats. 2004 I think it was.

Are there any outfitters or guide services you would recommend for a first kayaking trip to the Zambezi (from the US)?
@elhior234 жыл бұрын
It is one of the rivers that should be on everyone's bucket list and soon because en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batoka_Gorge_Hydroelectric_Power_Station. Lots of guiding services, they are good just a little more caution to the wind so to speak then a lot of what you would find in the states and that says quite a bit if you know raft guides.

It would be so cool to have someone good coach me through stuff. My buddies call me the crash test dummy, if I survive then they'll give it a go.

So this is what kayaking looks like when you're the best in the world. Those barrel roll corkscrews are as awesome as can be. And how did you ever catch that eddy in that little grotto?

Ahhh #9, commercial suicide...brings back memories of carrying rafts around it and watching kayakers disappear into holes for longer than seemed healthy. Have you ever ventured down from #24? The gaps are getting quite big between rapids but there is a 12m waterfall we abseiled the rafts and kayaks down on a 3-day trip and then there is of course "Ghostrider" even further down.

Please don't kill Adrian, he is far too cute to die, Bren would make a much better offering to the river gods. I kneel l before you, Master of the Zambezi. PS I know you are deaf, but the sound was crap. I'm halfway deaf myself, no hearing on my left side so I do understand. Iain

@danejacksonkayak4 жыл бұрын
Depends on your skill level. I would say they are 3-4 for the whole of the run. But rapid #9 is a 5 as there are solid consequences if you end up in one of the bad places of the rapid.
