Exactly my thoughts, I only like the blue one and the tinier to-go packaging. Not everyone can afford $190AUD

The green shadow on you is fire. I really prefer toppers and lighter sparkly shades.. also, I don’t wear warm tones much.. the packaging is life though. Wow.

It is so hard to capture the shifts. I am always ready for the new Light Work palettes. I got it is truly beautiful. I have III, IV, V and now VI. The packaging is really cool. The formulas feel great. I think she gets better every year. I am so here for it. The look you have on is stunning. Oh no! I know you really enjoy Ghost Town. @@lisasmith7 they do get better every year! It’s so exciting to see a brand that is considered “mainstream” out here innovating and proving that you can do that AND still be sold at Sephora! And still coming out with things that we haven’t seen before which is so incredibly refreshing!! I’m annoyed about Ghost Town. I can still use it but it pretty much creases instantly now which dulls the shine quite a bit! it’s funny bc I haven’t seen a single other person complain about that but I’m really hoping that means it is a one off bc I certainly don’t want it to happen to any of my other palettes Fortunately, it hasn’t so far!! 😅

I appreciate your analytical approach. The DM VI looks amazing, I'm sure I have all those colours in one palette or another - but the engineer in me loves that box and the organised layout!

@@sleepychamaeleon ty so much! I felt the same way about the packaging. None of these shifts are new, but for me, a huge % of value was the packaging itself! Like of course I have magnetic palettes but nothing this sleek and neat! In a world where everything’s been done before I appreciate this level of innovation so much!

Hi, new to your channel! I have been on YT for awhile and am still learning to do really good videos. My video went up late because I had a hurricane. I loved your review! I hope to get to know you better! Here is to both of us continuing to learn and grow! I really am enjoying this palette, but being older I don’t have many of these colors In my collection. I like that each of the 6 pans are cohesive color stories

@@AboutFaceWithMonaBagot that’s amazing!! I’ll have to go watch it!! I really love that We’re finally seeing older people on the platform. I truly never want the fun of makeup to go away for me and a huge part of that is seeing people embrace it at all ages! I only even started really using makeup elaborately at 37 so starting this channel around 40 was daunting, but I know I’d only regret not doing it lol I love this palette as well! I think one of the best things about Danessa Myricks is that she doesn’t come out with 87 different eyeshadow palettes per year which makes this one feel so much more special and I love that! I wish more brands would do that!!!!!

@@Criticalbeauty411I totally agree. I feel that she is still putting her heart into her releases and that matters to me. And my makeup skills are not perfect but it washes right off if I mess up 😊. The older I get, the more I realize that we really do need to have more fun and worry less about perfection! I love getting to know like minded women! Thank you for being so nice and friendly and sharing in my appreciation for DM and makeup in general!

Would you compare last years to this years and if you’d recommend one over the other? Last years is still on beauty bay and I’m debating

@@ThisIsMeMorgan I do like the formula of this year‘s ever so slightly better but I really feel like they’re both so good that it just comes down to the color story! What I would probably do is just look through each color and go with the one that you think you’ll get a higher use value from! That’s honestly what I did when I first decided to go ahead and purchase it. I just took two arm swatches and put them side-by-side. I think for me I will use the newer one a bit more only because last year‘s palette only really had one or two looks that I would keep going back for. it’s a bit early, but I think this palette has a few more! That plus the travel friendly packaging makes me think that for myself personally, the value is slightly higher for this years overall!

@@ThisIsMeMorgan last year I waited to compile 10 eye looks and then I put them all next to each other on IG. I plan on doing that again, but it takes some time so what I can say from looking at that initially is that I believe I can actually do my favorite looks from that palette with this one so I definitely don’t need both if that’s helpful at all!

Thank you for your explanation! I have so many indie shadows that I’ve collected over the past year. I collect DM every year, but now that I’m into indie brands, I’ve been feeling like I don’t need it. I want it though lol

I know for sure that I didn’t need it for the color story but it was more of the whole package and having everything together and just the fun factor that pushed it into worthy territory! Fortunately it’s the only palette with that price tag that I’ll do that for lol I’m grateful that I’ve stopped wanting the motherships bc I certainly wouldn’t be able to buy both!!

@@Criticalbeauty411 i agree 100%. I’m trying to get out of buying things just for the sake of having a collection. I have so much makeup, and I feel that one day I’m going to look back and think a lot of my purchases weren’t really worth it. The underconsumption trend is really doing a number on me 😂🤦🏾‍♀️

@@KimberlyIreneFowlkes I agree, despite trying to scrutinize every purchase I still definitely buy things that I know I’m not going to care for even in a years time. The only silver lining is that at the very least some of my mistakes have helped me avoid buying more things that I won’t use, but there are no two ways about it. The fact that makeup expires means that collecting in general is not a good investment!

Agree - Juvia's Garden palette has a lot of the same shades as this DM's, but there is a lot of fallout (for me, with or without primer) but the shades are just so darn pretty! Would be fun to see a side-by-side comparison.

@@KikiMoet1880 I just looked into these and I think a huge difference is with Juvia place, There are no duochromes or multichromes. Occasionally, you can get similar looks by layering shimmers, but it’s not really the same effect. I think because of that there aren’t really any mainstream dupes for a palette like this. Pat McGrath and Natasha Deona have their one off multi chromes randomly in palettes, but for the most part, I think the only real dude for this palette would be found in Indie brands!

@@terfalicious the same is true for the garden palette unfortunately, even if there are similar shades, there aren’t any multi chromes, which just makes the overall effect very different. I’m getting ready to do an updated video with the DM palette though and I will do my best to find swatches and put them side-by-side!

@@katychh I’ve never seen her sell singles like this, but anything is possible! I did see a reply to a comment from the brand saying that they might do packaging like this again in the future. If that’s the case, I could see a world in which it made sense for them to sell singles or at the very least mini palettes. I don’t think single powder shadows is always the most cost-effective way to sell for every brand, but that could certainly change. For now, they have duo chromes available as singles in liquids and pots. (Though I don’t reach for those formula nearly as often!)
