Good reaction. I'd like to disagree with one thought you vocalized. Dimash was representing himself AND his country. Even though he knew he would not win, he never held back or gave a less-than-his-all performance. What we all saw was the best he could give each time -- even those times on the show when he was sick and advised by the doctor to hold back a bit. It's not in his nature to hold back when he is on stage! :)

Love your facial expression. At that time, he don’t speak English at all. He could only say “Hi my name is Dimash”. He learned the song phonetically. He did a lot better now. He could converse in English though he still have accent which we love. And we call it dinglish. He did an interview without an interpreter now. Dimash is very considerate when he sings duet, he tone down and will only show his range once in every song. He won’t show dominance. SOS is the best introduction to him. I presume you will be watching either the singer version or the Slavic bazzar. How I wish you will do a double reaction. So you would appreciate the evolution of his voice from then and now. I could recommend a second SOS when he sung in president Biden inauguration january this year. You will appreciate him more.

The young lady has studied English for years at the University level. Dimash began seriously singing in English only in this 2017 competition. I have been surprised by his rapid improvement in English over the past 3 1/2 years. He's becoming fairly fluent. Although, he is greatly popular and loved in China, he still struggles with Mandarin Chinese even though he works at it. That Mandarin is extremely difficult to learn if you begin as an adult. I believe in the future that Dimash will be tri-lingual with Kazakh, Russian, and English. He sings in near perfect Italian from studying classical operatic voice in university, but he readily admits that he can't speak Italian.

What I heard invited children from different nationalities to the stage was Dimash’s idea, he want to show all races are the same and bring peace to the world. The end of the video, they just made fun with Dimash, they asked him in Chinese and need him respond by Chinese, then he said “ yes/right “ in Chinese without knowing what she said, because they teach him when you don’t understand what people asked you, you just say that “word” 🤣

One of the Chinese fans explained why he did not win - that it was like competing against Whitney Houston or Barbara Streisand in the US - the singer who won is loved in China for decades and Dimash was completely unknown before the show, earning second place against a whole field of well known famous singers was huge success. Laure is a well known singer and producer in China and was not a competitor here.

Hi, thanks for reacting to Dimash. This was one of 13 performances of the 2017 I AM A SINGER Chinese Singing Competition. Each week they had to present a song of a different musical genre. He finished 2nd because as a foreigner he couldn't win the competition by regulation. An exception was made for him even just to participate because the rules would not allow it. THE SHOW MUST GO ON which you have already reacted to, it was a performance from that contest. You can recognize these performances because they all start with the heartbeat. If you take a look at his performances at the concert, his stage presence is exactly how you said you like it. He has a 6 octave and some other tones in the vocal range. From the baritone to the notes of the soprano. And every texture he uses is adorable. You can't even imagine how much he will surprise you in every performance. You never know what he will do. He has several degrees in pop music, jazz, opera, R&B and music composition. He can play various instruments, including piano, guitar, drums, dombra (traditional Kazakh 2-string instrument), xylophone and more. And he sang in 12 different languages. I hope you will have more reactions on him. It will not only be a pleasure for us Dears (name of us Dimash fans) but it will be a pleasure for you too. You will not regret having discovered such a talent that he sings not only with the heart but also with the soul. I think before Dimash, there were always non-Chinese singers coming to this singing competition show. IIrc, there was a Korean singer, a Malaysian singer, and after him, Jessie J was there and she won the first place. So I dont think the rules you mentioned ever existed.

When Dimash sings in a duet, you can always see that he tries not to drown out his partner, he has a lot of control over his voice and his power. There is NO single song that could show everything Dimash can do. I don't think anyone knows all that he can do but he himself. You should check out one of his music videos, it shows different things that you don't get in live performances.

That is not even close to showing his whole range. I am not sure any of us have seen that yet because he constantly surprises us. He does try never to out shine anyone singing a duet with him. He is a very polite respectful person. Try something like Love Is Like A Dream where he starts in a very low baritone and goes to soprano etc. Vocal fry to operatic, to full on belt and of course he plays multiple instruments.

Laure Shang is multi-lingual, having majored in French in college. Dimash didn't speak English, here; he learned the word-sounds under a lot of time pressure. He can carry on a conversation, now, in English, though he is still working on learning the language. Now, if you haven't "met" Hua Chenyu, you must! He is a musical genius, so beloved in China,and by many of us around the world. Dimash only speaks in 3 languages. He's fluent in Kazakh, Russian, and learning English. He has sung in at least 12 languages though. And his classical ballads are better, in terms of his range and control. This is nothing compared to the real power in his ballads.

Hello Dan Dimash savait depuis le tout début qui ne gagnera pas car il n'est pas Chinois y a que les chinois qui ont le droit de gagner dans ce concourt. il voulait se faire connaître donc il l'as accepter de faire le concourt en entier Singer 2017 mais il l'as remporter la 2 ième place. il l'aurais eu la première place si y avais été un chinois hélas mais depuis 4 ans il l'as fait beaucoup de chemin. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night. Dimash got many new friends from this show and he said at some point he learned a lot from it to. The songs so far aren't really ideal for his voice, SOS (among many others) would be a stark example how he can surpass the original by miles. The best are not the western (type) songs we possibly all know, but those we don't. Those will bring color and range

This is not his best. A better tribute to Michael Jackson is on his channel (better English, dance moves, moon walk). Dimash is improving all the time and this is not his full range. You will find something different and mesmerizing in every performance, even soft songs with no dynamic crazy range is just beautiful. Keep going, your doing well.

CB, this was something that actually was suggested by me. But also at the same time, I'm going to react to things that I think I'm going to want to hear. Especially when it comes to covers. Because if there's a song that I don't really like, it's not going to matter who is singing it... I'm still not going to like it. Likewise, if there is an artist or song that I love being covered, I'm more likely going to do that. And that's just how it's going to be.

15:25 I believe I know what you mean, but you communicated it poorly. Every note was spot on. Nothing either of them sang was off-key or anyrthing. You're saying from the perspective of trying to not so much cover, but rather copy or clone a Michael Jackson song. That was never their intention. I'm sure you know by now, this is some years ago... but yeah... if Dimash wants to hit the same note he would hit the same note. If he doesn't it's because he planned not to.
