Actually, he had two reasons. One, to out Genocider publicly and thus ensure she would not kill him later to hide her secret (at this point, only he knew and being paranoid as he is, fits perfectly within character). Two, to test whether Makoto had just luck in the first trial or actually had the potential to actually pose a threat during the trial - both in logical reasoning and avoiding deception. He just played the long game.
