A few answers to common questions regarding this chapter: (Obviously spoilers!) - Why did the killer commit the crime? -- Pure and simple greed and love of money. - Why involve the accomplice at all? -- Because it was a failsafe. Not only did the killer need help for the (somewhat overly complex) scheme, but the accomplice worked as a buffer: if anything had gone wrong during the plan before the final moment, the murderer was still technically innocent: the accomplice had committed the first killing after all. If the plan went sour, the murderer simply could have accused the accomplice and walked away unharmed. The killer deliberately waits until the very last moment before getting his/her hands dirty him/herself, and in doing so, cleans up the only person who could implicate him/her. - Why did the accomplice even help at all? -- The killer set him up against the victim by claiming the victim had stolen Alter-Ego. The accomplice would not suffer the crime of another person owning a 2-D waifu/husbando. - Why does the blackened look so happy during the punishment? And what's with the firetruck? -- Monokuma always subverts the Blackened's desires during the punishment. In this case, the killer wanted a noble, dramatic death with all eyes on him/her. Being burned at the stake like nobility or a feared witch seemed to be the punishment the killer wanted, until the expected dramatic death is replaced by the most banal, most common death of all: being hit by a vehicle.

The motive wasn't just greed and love for money though. She had a dream (an extremely superficial one but still) that she wouldn't be able to fulfil by staying trapped. Not only that, but the money together with her own earnings would allow her to fulfil it, beaning that the money was nothing but a means to an end.

What I really hate about this Chapter was Ishimaru was killed after he broke when Mondo was executed! You couldn't even hang out with him at this point! Also you couldn't give Ishimaru Mondo's Crazy Diamond Coat you get when completing the 2nd Trial!

Celeste was technically the only one had real intentions of killing anyone. Leon was doing it to protect himself from Sayaka doing anything crazy to him in the future. Mondo passed out for 10 seconds but then saw Chihiro dead.

Ah, another Leon apologist. Leon had every chance to leave it for what it was when Sayaka locked herself in the bathroom. No one would have believed Sayaka, and once her greatest strength - her aura of innocence - was gone, she wouldn't have stood a chance against anyone anymore, since all she had going for her was the element of surprise. Leon murdered her not out of self-defence, not out of fear, but because he saw an opportunity. As for Mondo, he killed Chihiro in the heat of the moment, yes, but there's no doubt he grabbed the dumbbell and struck him on the head with the intention of killing, seeing red or no.

It was the heat of the moment. If you were planning on replying, please make it about the commenters' main statement. Celeste knew who she was gonna kill, how she was gonna do it, and how she was gonna hide the evidence, so yeah she was the only one who intended to kill.

Again, Leon did not initially plan to kill Sayaka. Mondo did not initially plan on killing Chihiro, but all three kills were intentional, i.e. done with the intent to kill. You're confusing 'intention' with 'premeditation'. Intentional means 'not by accident'. None of the kills were accidental, so all three were intentional. True, only Celeste's murder was premeditated, which I never disputed. Celeste did indeed calmly plan out the murder beforehand, unlike Leon and Mondo (who respectively killed out of opportunity and anger). However, it does not make Leon and Mondo's killings unintentional. Again, intentional != premeditated.

The only scenario that Celes will survive is that after Hifumi killed Ishimaru, she should've left him with dirty hands, and getting the long stick of the plan, while getting Hifumi executed.

Celeste's motives were motivated by greed and she targeted Hifumi's lack of intelligence to get her to do her dirty work, just so she could off him and frame another unintelligent person, Hiro. Killing Taka was easy because he would be punctual because of his talent , and he clearly still had trust in them, so it was easy to plan the killing. He was just a casualty in her twisted plan because of the Alter Ego incident. Though she was clever for choosing the people she sought to kill and frame. For her to do all this to live a ridiculous dream and continue to dwell in her distorted fantasy and identity she created is why I think she deserved to be executed more than anyone else.

It is explained there, she manipulates him by convincing him that taka had stolen the alter ego(whom he was in love with) and that he would use its secret to escape, so she reveals that the two of them could escape by killing take and another, but Celeste then stabs him in the back and kills him

this case gets a big "no" from me. there are too many things that just happened to be possible by sheer chance. taka was waiting for 1 hour, but what if he had not? what if any of the characters had decided to just randomly walk off? building a suit like his requires a lot more time than any of the charaters had. they didn't have the exact measurements, happened to have exactly the right materials

I'm not saying its not possible, but do you think that would have mattered? Even if Taka was the Ultimate Moral compass, and thusly would have chosen to wait out of a moral obligation, couldn't they have tried later? The rest follows a different suit. Even if one of the other characters decided to walk off, despite being told it was best to remain in groups, there's almost no guarantee they'd end up discovering either Hifumi, or Celeste. Finally, the robot justice suit is strange, but I believe it's made of pure cardboard. Cutting that properly, and taking a few engineering courses, one could make something similar in a few days time, a single one if you dedicate a night. It's possible they couldn't make their full design however, which is why the suit could not bend over.

That's true, but if she didn't kill Hifumi, there would have been no point to her entire plan since either Hifumi would have graduated (and she'd be executed with all the rest) or Hifumi would have been executed and she would be no step further. Her plan's clever in the sense that it builds in a safety for if she fails to kill Hifumi (she could just pin the whole thing on him), but not killing Hifumi would definitely NOT have been a good outcome for her.

peko died and fuyuhiko was devastated, fuyuhiko survived. nekomaru sacrificed himself twice for akane, akane survived. gundham died sacrificing himself for everyone, sonia was his girlfriend and he wanted her to look after his hamsters, sonia survived. kaede died trying to help everyone and her words left an impact of shuichi, shuichi survived. angie, the person who himiko loved the most, died and tenko, who tried to protect himiko at all costs and after she died himiko realised how much she meant to her and was a changed person after the third trial, himiko survived. maki loved kaito and he was kind of the only person she had ever had any real connection with in her entire life until he died, maki survived. mondo, takas first friend, died from an accident breaking him and takas promise, taka does all he can to stop him from being executed and was essentially depressed after the 2nd chapter, until he was able to talk to him again, *_TAKA IS THE NEXT PERSON TO DIE, WHAT THE FRICK DUDE_*

Didn't Celestia convince Yamada to cooperate to Frame Yasuhiro about Robo Justice stuff, first they put Yasuhiro in Robo Justice suit to know that Robo Justice attacks Yamada, but in the moment by 6 am, Yamada killed Ishimaru with Justice hammer 4, and headed back to nurses office and uses blood bag by faking death with Justice Hammer 3, after that, Yamada decided to make a move, he dragged Ishimaru's body into the room where hammers were there, and then Celestia killed Yamada with unnamed hammer but called it Justice Hammer 5

To be real because of the heat Celeste probably had no idea that the fire truck was coming she was probably sick/confused from the heat so she probably didn't notice the fire, meaning she still might think she died in a cool way :). Well, Hifumi had been killed by celestia. So I guess that kind of serves as a punishment? But also not. Due to him being killed, because if he had not been killed, it would’ve been really shitty for Celeste in the trial, it made celeste the actual blackened in the case. After all, you can’t execute someone who’s dead. This has many reasons: 1-Her talent is not only her gambling skill, but also her talent with lying. Monokuma a de her think she would die by burning, but she died differently at the end, basically getting played. 2-She always wanted to die as someone important, or at least an execution that would make everyone lie her eyes on her, like how everyone in an old town would reunite in order to see a witch burn. However, Monokuma made her die by one of the most common causes of death, and the least "interesting" one: being smashed by a vehicle. You don't see normal people getting burnt alive like witches, but you DO see that people often die regularly because of accidents like this and it's kinda less of a big dead (it's cold but you get me, the public doesn't care that much)
