Kokichi is probably the most interesting character in the games. He is just a prankster that's a compulsive liar, yet he made everyone believe he was the mastermind, outsmarted the real mastermind, and still tried to save everyone even though they all hated him because he had successfully fooled them into thinking he's evil. What really hurt my heart is even after they figured out he sacrificed his life to save them, they still hated him, and only Keebo believed his dying words, because he used logic instead of emotions. They all were like "boohoo Kaito" when Kokichi was the one who came up with the plan, and if Kaito and Shuichi didn't ruin it, it would of worked. If monokuma didn't know who died, how could he possibly punish the others for not knowing? He broke the game from the inside out. You can tell this is all a fake persona because in the other game modes he's just a childish prankster.

Monokuma isn't fair. He would just kill the class if they couldn't find the answer. That even happens in the game where he says that if no one finds who did it he’ll just execute them. Kokichi was genuinely the most honest and selfless character though he was perceived by the others as a selfish liar. He lied in trials to make progress and find the real culprit, continuously tried to find ways out of the game in which everyone would survive, and took the blame for everything. He even set up his own death to ensure his friends would make it out alive and no one acknowledged that or gave credit to him. The sad part is, he risked it all and the people he cared about most didn’t even mourn him.

Kokichi actually had an idea, a useful idea to finish the killing game. Not just "we need to have hope and trust blindly each other", which makes even more despair in the long run. Kokichi is absolute doubt and Kaito is absolute belief. The yin and yang comparison is apt, because you need both of them in equal measure to be a well-rounded person. Just like you need to be cynical to avoid being betrayed, but not to Kokichi's level of absolute distrust of anyone but himself (and Shuichi), and also need to know when to trust people and believe in them, but not to Kaito's level of absolute belief making it difficult to doubt people and expose their wrongdoings. Perhaps that's why they were so good at working with each other come Chapter 5, they both brought a polar opposite to the other's viewpoint to the table. Kokichi had to trust Kaito to carry out the plan, which goes against his character of cynicism seen up to that point, and Kaito, who has hated lies since day one, has to lie about his own death and pretend to be his ideological opposite. While it would be foolish to say they respected one another, it's undeniable that they complemented each other's strengths. And I think that's the big thing to take from their relationship: belief and doubt aren't opposites, they're simply two factors of the human condition, and when their absolutes meet at equal levels, they can achieve greater things than either alone. Belief is tested by doubt, but by going through that distrust, you can often end up trusting people even more on the other side or realising that your belief was misguided. The same applies in the opposite direction, doubt needs belief to even form in the first place, and belief can either confirm your doubts or dispel them. Doubt without belief is as much of a lie as belief without doubt, after all. I have said the words belief and doubt to the point they've lost all meaning by now, but that's just my two cents on why they are so different, yet fundementally the same.

Kokichi Ouma is literally one of the smartest characters in the danganronpa series, he is such a good liar that he made it so even Monakuma didn't know what the hell happened (The only one who's done that.) I love how emotional the line "The thing you guys wanted ~so badly~! A truth without any lies!" was portrayed. It shows how really sick Kokichi is of everyone and the bad rep 'lying' gets. This was such a petty moment of his but honestly I'd do the same.
