I watched your videos on repairing the diesel and I am very impressed by them. The time and effort you invested in the removal, repair, and reinstallation is impressive. The total financial cost must have been significant too. I'm quite impressed by the sheer massive size of the engine. My grandfather had a small sawmill back in the 1970s that he operated 7 days a week. He found a gasoline V8 engine in a junkyard, rescued it, and used it to power the sawmill. That engine must have been very small in comparison to your diesel.

Hello from Ontario Canada, Nice to see Renko back in service! Word of advice from a professional insulator, take your fibreglass wrap and put it in a bucket of fresh water, weigh it down and let it soak up for 20-30 minutes, then when you wrap it the itchy fibres don’t fly everywhere. Also you can get it tighter by firing the engine while the wrap is still damp and letting the heat shrink it up a bit. Cheers Stu!

Stick welding usually requires that you keep the rods in a case to keep them from absorbing water from the air into the flux coating. The water in the coating really affects the quality of the weld and the appearance. Since you are so close to the water, those rods probably are saturated in water, which is why they are going chalky. You can dry them by cooking them in an oven at between 350 to 400 degrees for about an hour. If you have them sitting on tinfoil or a pan, roll the rods to dry out all sides. Normally it takes less time to dry them out, but they are highly saturated. Once you have them dry, keep them in a closed airtight case with some desiccant in it to keep them dry.
@ianrutherford8783 жыл бұрын
