Interesting, mystery solved. I hope mine never has to be done but if so I will be looking back at this for a once over. Looks like a 6 pack of Schlitz job:)

Forgot to mention the engine with the broken exhaust valve, its a 2007 115hp Evinrude Etec. Been a great engine with a few set backs - fly wheel magnets the biggest issue - lost 10 of 18. Found some at local Evinrude dealer and glued it back together :)

Hi, Love all that you present in your vids. I have a particular issue that I found while re sealing my prop seals. I removed the seal carrier and found a piece of the starboard exhaust valve (happened to have the part # on it). Boats in storage now (Maine) but studying up on what I'm in for come spring. Most have me removing the powerhead to gain access to the exhaust valves while I found a gent on the web, Jon Zero who sounds like he's Australian, who seems to indicate you can remove the mid section without pulling the powerhead. Looking for some guidance, if possible. Maybe an Etec powerhead removal vid topic or one to show access to these buried exhaust valves. Thanks and hope you have a good summer! Rich

Can I ask if you installed new valve stem guides below the valve stem seals?

Couldn't you mitigate the risk of dying from passing out by wearing a full-face mask? More often than not people don't pass out for hours at a time, it's minutes.

Hello! I replaced an older (1989) Morse steering cable with a newer Seastar one (same length) and, I noticed that the steering is very tight after reinstalling it. Do you have any recommendations?

just gave up on an 81' Montgomery ward 4hp. Couldn't line up the splines for the life of me. turned prop every way in gear. Nothing. It ran like garbage so time to move on. Maybe go electric and quit this archaic chemical energy crap... Light bulbs > candles.

I changend the impeller for a new one, put everything up for a test and the water didn’t come out. Since it was the first time I did it, I though I must had done something wrong, so took it apart, rechecked the process.. And nothing. So did it again with the same result. All stressed out I came across this video, changed the tank for taller one, added more water and the restof the story you surely know😀

Got a 2005 Bay 190 with a Honda BF135 A5 outboard. I want to connect new Tach and Fuel Gauge as well as adding Trim Position, Oil Pressure and Engine Temperature. Do you know of a harness connection part or can you give any advice on pulling all signals from the motor? Once the signals are wired, I can handle calibration, etc. THANKS for any help!

Fishtank tubing is a favorite insulator but I'll use rubber tubing if the solder junction is huge. If you use gator clips for the pump and switch, you can rapidly disconnect a pump and hand it to a needy boat mid-ocean. I have 2 wires because simplicity counts. If a boat has a sink, you can avoid drilling a through hole and just use its drain column. I like single strand wiring for most long runs. My simple float switch draws no power at rest. It's a good idea to wash down the bilge and interior with tap water if your river is brackish at all.

Hi good video and when you are putting the new bearings race in put a cut in the back and front old races and then use them to put the new ones in and because you cut the old ones it has a Relf cut and come out very very easy keep a cut set at work and use 10 times a week

Are you using loctite 572 on the bolt threads, or antiseize or nothing. Are you using gasket maker between the upper and lower unit? Thanks

Excellent video! I have a similar Tohatsu 90 with the same idle timing issue as yours. All linkages are set to the correct length, throttle plates are horizontal at WOT, WOT timing is spot on, but the timing linkage does not return all the way to the idle stop. It was reassuring to see you experience the same problem as me. I will take your advice, adjusting the linkages to ensure the timing linkage rests agains the stop!
