Danger Another Train Coming (Metra Meet) At Elmhurst Illinois

A METRA meet in Elmhurst Illinois that is punctuated by a robo voice declaring, repeatedly, "Danger! another train coming!" These are very busy tracks and the fear is that someone will be waiting on a train and try to cross the tracks as soon as it goes by. The problem is that with three tracks, these is almost always another train coming. The Robo Voice is an effort to keep folks alive.
This is the Union Pacific Railroad's Chicago West Line. These tracks handle a large mixture of freight and commuter traffic.

That would be too complicated for Illinois residents. I think it should be a tough guy voice saying something like, "Hey youse! Watch da hell out!"

Out ofall the bells on Metras, 112 and 134s are the best.

As far as my video - - - Some of those grabs were luck, others came about from many years of hanging out at the same depot. I've recently decided that I am some kind of throwback to a hundred years ago when folk did hang out at the depot. At least I'm not alone. On Friday nights, in good weather, there is usually a small group of like minded people there BSing about trains.......

I am probably twenty miles away, as the crow flies, but a lot more when it comes to the roads. Around here, we talk in "minutes," and Barrington is about forty-five minutes away. It can be a really long drive if I head over there during rush hour.

There is, supposedly, a Metra that makes Elmhurst its last stop. After dropping off passengers, it runs east, switches tracks, pulls back west to the depot area where it ties up. In the meantime, the opposite running Metras come through, and a little later, the middle track train, switches again, and makes a run.

+menslady125 We could have barb wire and guard towers but still someone will try to cut through! The warning might be a good thing for kids, or adults with disbilities, but how much money should be spent to protect someone from himself...?

Why do they have that rotating (gyra-lite?) in the headlight? Is that a replacement for the Prime Stratolite beacon?

The prime headlight is in the nose of the locomotive. 2 ditch lights below & up high is the oscillating headlight & the red emergency headlight.

Great Video! These signs are also installed here in New Jersey. (Check out my video titled: Outwater Lane, Garfield New Jersey to see them) They wern't in action when i took the video though.
