@@FloridaManSam Schizophrenic / personality disorders long term leading to PTSD on top of the rest of the shit show, perhaps a TI (Targeted Individual) who is being tortured and harassed in broad daylight by tight knit criminals / spies / politicians / terrorists until stress, ostracization & severe lack of meaningful human contact begin to take a costly toll on our protagonist. Likely he'd have no way to stop the harassment or protect himself. He can't run away IRL so the only escape is to dive straight into the twisted, hellishly deteriorating, fractured psyche of which little is left to fill what remains of the boney, neglected vessel the man's mind eventually spilled from. The video shows the main character as perhaps a bit unkempt & unhinged, intensely focused on hunting and killing the phantom-esque trophy buck. After quite the insane ordeal has ensued he draws blood only for the illusion to break & reveal he had been hunting himself the whole time... and the hunt was a success. The question remains as to whether the ending is happy or sad... peace is peace, they'll tell you. Death is death as well. Hug a dog, my friends & fellow weary travelers. Hug a dog or a loved one & seek peace if this content hits too close to home. Somebody cares; make sure you're able to return that sentiment from a warm place no matter how crazy you get because once you lose the warmth, nobody will suffer the initial chilly embrace long enough to bring you back from such a desolate, frosty solo oblivion.

It's interesting because if you just watch the video, it's almost like a ghost story, where the deer is getting revenge on the man who killed him by killing his whole family. But if you watch the video and listen to the song at the same time, it tells a completely different story, where the deer is symbolic of guilt and the man is feeling guilty for letting his family die. And he tries to kill the deer (that which he's blaming for their deaths) and it's really himself he kills in the end. "The mirror is a trigger and your mouth's a gun" "It's just you and me against me" "I keep my enemies closer than my mirror ever gets to me" It's something I can relate to...and really, probably pretty much anyone, since we've all experienced guilt, regret, and shame at some point in our lives. But the video tells two totally different stories depending on how you watch it.

The best thing about art like this is there's not one explanation. Everyone relates it to the struggle they're going through. As the song says "lucky for me, I'm not the only one!" - Everyone's fighting internal battles, and sometimes that battle is externalized. Be kind to one another! :)

I was getting that too haha. How he shoots the deer on the edge of the roof but he ends up falling off.
@DarkBlood17711 жыл бұрын
You might be right. The way I was looking at it is that he has problems within so he's fighting himself but his Family is there by his side so its two against one "I'm already fighting me so whats another one" So its him and his family trying to help him. He ends up killing them without realizing it but he thinks its the inhuman beast of the deer he killed doing it when it turns out it was him. Or he knows it was his other side and he sees his other side as that inhuman beast. Think of it like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I assume he killed his second son long before because they show him first it may have been a memory then ends up killing his wife and first son later on thinking inhuman beast did it. The ending being he shoots the deer off the roof but its actually him and the bloody footprints were his as death is his only release from madness. So Killing himself will set him free from his pain and his deeds. But he thinks he's killing the deer because it was the cause and ends up killing himself. I could be wrong that's just what I took from it. A guess is all only the writer of the song could really know its meaning.

There were things I really enjoyed about the film, and I was alright with the ending, just not the lack of character motivation from the homunculi. This song and video were awesome though and definitely worth the watch.
@11851911 жыл бұрын
Oh I knew that going in. I still didn't like certain things, like the villain at the end felt completely out of place and I don't understand why passing through the gate somehow made her an alchemical god-thing while it just infected and killed her soldiers.
@SlayerEndX1311 жыл бұрын
Till H I wasn't bothered as much by the motivations of the villain as I was bothered by the sudden Deus ex Machina. We never saw Alphonse get on the airship and we never saw Mustang destroy the Gate on his side. On the one hand, we're looking at something that literally should not have happened. On the other hand, we don't even get to SEE what happens. So, half the ending was impossible and the other half was just never shown. After having seen the film, I felt deeply cheated. But, then, what can you expect? Both Square Enix and Gainax worked on that film. One has a history of happy endings that don't make sense with various examples through Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, and the other has a history of just never showing their work such as in the cases of Evangelion and Gurren Lagann. I suppose my other issue with the film was that it was very predictable, plot-wise. "Always a puppet", said Envy to Edward. Well, yeah. He was. Every single problem caused throughout the entirety of Edward and Alphonse's journey in the 2003 anime could be traced back to their actions. While the film stayed true to this unfortunate fact, it didn't let Ed or Al grow from it. What happened instead was their agreed determination that the world didn't revolve around them when, instead, there was significant evidence to the contrary! Each problem the brothers faced, every issue they combated, it was all something they caused. Even in the film, this was the case. For them never to have learned that implies that either they didn't learn from their past mistakes and, instead, are doomed to repeat them... or they learned the entirely wrong lesson from the evidence they were given. There was a right way to do this film, I'm sure. And it wasn't done badly every step of the way. It was salvageable... but there were real and severe issues with the ending and certain events leading to it that make me question precisely how canon it is. The story would make more sense if it was revealed that Edward DIED while in the Gate and that everything following was just his trip into 'Heaven'. Something he never had. But, then, that's just crazy. Am I right?
@FzyTzt11 жыл бұрын
Till H im not sure why the gate did anything at all to the people but I'm pretty sure she didn't die because she knew magic that she had learned in her world but it could actually be practiced in the other.
@11851911 жыл бұрын
I can definitely see where you're coming from, though I didn't take the ending that way. I saw it as Ed and Al committing themselves to do good for others and the world, now that their own personal goals and aspirations had been completed. Not them denying their roles in the situations they did cause. That being said, how did you feel about Envy? I was bothered that he simply allowed himself to be turned into a gateway in exchange for being able to chew on his father's immortal body (though I do appreciate the nod to Dante's Inferno, as Satan is content to chew on sinners in the lowest pits of hell for eternity.) Symbolically I enjoyed it...but Envy is more then just a symbol, he's a character, and it seemed to me like he would have done more to destroy the people who captured him.
