I have been watching these for a couple of months now and I always love to see the beautiful Lockheed Super Constellation....the " Star of the Skies" . I like to also think of the "Connie" as the Lady of the Skies. She sure was a graceful lady with smooth lines and a great purr..!! When I was in a Navy squadron back in the 1970's, we had a Connie; she was full of electronic counter-measures equipment. I got to ride in her once, and I sure enjoyed it.

Its a year past when you wrote this, but I have been enjoying the same thing. Graceful & stunning. Lufthansa has restored one to put back into service. We have one flying in Australia called "Connie". Even if the "DA" story is sometimes lame, I still enjoy the Constellation footage.

@@stuart8663 Hello, fellow "Connie" lover..!! The Constellation has the distinction of being the first Presidential plane to be designated "Air Force 1" during the time of President Dwight Eisenhower.

@@stuart8663 Thanks for the link; I watched it. The U.S. Navy aviation squadron that I was in back in 1971-75 had one of the Super Connies. It had a tall vertical radome on top and a big round radome slung underneath for Electronic Warfare. The squadron was a Counter Electronic Warfare outfit with three other types of jets and each plane had electronic warfare equipment on it for different missions. The squadron mission was to go out on exercises and train the ships & planes how to detect and deal with the enemy's electronic warfare. I was in my early 20's and didn't know much about military jets, or of the history of the Connie. We didn't have the internet back then. It wasn't until years later that I began to learn about and really appreciate the aircraft that we had.

@@marbleman52 Very very interesting. Was that like AWAC's? The Connie the we have in Australia has been painted with the Qantas colours, but was a US Vietnam-era hospital transporter. It was chosen out of the dry US desert and the bed "cot" fittings removed and some correct vintage seats put in.. Sometimes I imagine what a SuperConstellation would be like with 4 slick jets instead of Props.
