This bus belongs to myself and my wife Trudi, and we can't be more grateful to Ross at RollingLiving for helping us with our bus, and his wife for quietly helping him while he was helping us. You sir are nothing short of amazing. When we first came across the skoolie idea, we thought of doing it ourselves, but after some serious discussions, we decided that to build what we wanted was going to take a year or more given our schedules and what we really wanted to do was to get out there and travel sooner. Lone Star Skoolie assured us we would be done with our build no later than October of last year, and as with other victims of this horrible company, we were subjected to lie after lie, delay after delay, mistake after mistake, and downright abuse by a company that will say whatever they can to con people into giving them their money. This $100K build, which didn't include the cost of any of the appliances nor flooring nor the cost of the bus itself, cost us $75K up front and they tried HARD to squeeze the rest out of us by refusing to give us our bus back without that final payment. Had it not been for the amazing people at Print-EC, the company that was going to wrap the bus for us once it was finished, we likely would have been stuck there longer and been forced to pay even more for this hellish build to end. There are more videos on her channel as well showing some of the less "deadly", yet still awful, aspects of this "high end" build.

Electrician here, we call them dead man cords. Most dangerous thing about these goes as follows: If you lose power, you decided to hook up a generator with a cable like this, and you do NOT isolate your panel from the incoming service, you are now effectively backfeeding the power line, and this is important because TRANSFORMERS WORK BOTH WAYS. They step down the voltage on the line from 7200 volts to the 240/120 we use, but if you feed that transformer with 220, then it will step the voltage up and produce 7200 volts on the line that potentially linemen are working on trying to restore power to your home!!! I have heard of linemen getting killed/injured this way! I even got into a physical altercation with some old entitled dude at home depot over the merits of what he was doing. PLEASE DO NOT USE DEAD MAN CORDS!!!!!!!! Keep our linemen (and women) safe!!!!!
@trudikrupocki30232 жыл бұрын
This just makes me so sick to my stomach. I am so glad we didn’t try using this!!! At one point right when we got our bus, I did have the cord in my hands and was going to try to figure it out but the puddle of water from a leak in our bus distracted me. This should be considered attempted murder. This business reassured us multiple times that they were the experts and all his KZbin videos he presents himself and his business as caring about safety.

Your comment that these bad conversion deals "kill dreams and kill trust" is spot on. Most states have this concept of a mechanical lien that a licensed mechanic can file against your vehicle if they do work and don't get paid. So if one is looking to get work done by a licensed mechanical shop and they are asking for a big upfront deposit, unless your vehicle is not worth much they are likely looking to establish more leverage in the deal than they ought to. I enjoy how you called out a bunch of things that should be obvious to mechanically inclined folks - like the do not use self tapping hardware on an electrical box. Common sense was thrown to the wind by these San Antonio builders.

Unfortunately, Limited Liability Companies (LLC's) come and go all the time. There were many LLC home builders during the housing troubles of 2008 and once they ran into any legal trouble they would fold and reopen under another LLC name etc. I feel bad for those being taken advantage of but many times this can be avoided if people would stop paying money upfront, and hire people with a good reputation that are bonded and insured. Payment should be made in phases and after inspection of completed work (may require special arrangement).

Well, the company won a special prize. That prize is where I cease recommending an attorney and begin to insist on an Air Force B-52 with mixed incendiary and HE load. For, that passed fundamental breach of contract into the land of attempted murder and turnabout is fair play. On second thought, a B-52 is too light, this is more like a job for a MOAB. The cut marker/turn signals look more like revenge sabotage for wanting to terminate the contract that they entirely failed to perform on, which makes for malicious mischief at a minimum.

HEART BREAKING
@trudikrupocki30232 жыл бұрын
Truest statement ever. My heart breaks into a million pieces with every new discovery about this bus and others. The owner of this company promised to help us bring our dream to reality. Instead he made us part of a nightmare we couldn’t escape from for months only in the end to financially burden us and leave us with something that could have killed us.

Every single person who watches this video search for this company - Lone Star Skoolie - and take the minute it takes to submit a review. Everyone who's done business with this company needs to sue, the rest of us need to do our bit at warning others. OP is brilliant and doing nothing short of the lord's work helping out these scam victims.

Nobody should have to pay that kind of money to have this done to them. Unbelievable. My heart goes out to the owners that had to endure this. @RollingLiving, you did a great thing to help these people out. The wrap company looks like they were watching out for them as well. There needs to be more people out there that are willing to do the right thing when these things happen. Thank you for sharing this, hopefully it will save people from a similar experience.

For $100,000 you could obtain a older but functioning professionally built motor coach.. Why would you take a school bus, that all though being strong, is built to travel short distances on city streets. When you see a 'school bus' on the highway they are usually traveling at the lower end of expressway speeds because they just are not 'sprung' for expressway travel speeds. I know people DIY them but they don't spend that type of money....
@franknursery69062 жыл бұрын
Some of them are made for highway speeds, depends on the motor/transmission combo. Additionally, those motorcoaches aren't made for full-time travelling from what I understand. They are only rated by the manufacturer for a certain amount of mileage per year or you violate your warranty. Also, some people like to build their bus homes to their own tastes, something you can't do in an RV, you can only pick from their options. And that doesn't take into account safety considerations during a crash. But as far as $100k, I personally would never spend that much on a bus conversion. Mine is going to be much less than that.

Ross you are a good man! That build is straight up criminal. Those poor people who got ripped off and technically are being constantly under threat of attempted murder should absolutely sue the hell out of that company. Maybe then they would close business and stop stealing from people and trying to kill them. I can’t even express how pissed off this kind of stuff makes me. I've had to cut some corners myself before, mostly out of necessity, but I am personally unable to wrap my head around this totally un-professional "Skoolie" conversion. What in the world was "Lone Star" even thinking? I don't know. That bus is honestly a disaster. Pretty much, everything that has been done needs to be re-done properly. Lone Star must have thought they were building out a Gypsie bus. Thanks for reminding me of how bad some things can get. It's always best to research the company's reputation online.
