I have to agree with some of the other commentators that some of these guys seem to be doing what I would expect. The two guys feeling the larger trees were wearing appropriate PPE and the felling method used was appropriate. Yes, I would have perhaps removed some off the buttresses (in the first one) or felled lower (second), but overall I'd have been happy with their standard of work.

With the number of competent tree fellings featured on this channel, it makes me wonder if the channel owner is a serial tree-hugger that is just hell-bent on demonizing all fellings. While, yes, tree felling is inherently dangerous, not all fellers are dangerous idiots. In fact, felling trees is sometimes necessary to protect lives. Trees do eventually die, and when they do, they pose an imminent risk to any dwelling and its inhabitants. Without felling 'em properly, a strong wind one night could shorten the census by using the tree as a sledgehammer. Trees are great, but sometimes, they need to be safely brought down. Safely felling a tree does not make someone an idiot.

what's up with the dude starting at 01;20 ? looks to be fairly competent to me. Some minor points maybe - felling cut didn't start level, saw revving unnecessarily, maybe could have done with a wider hinge for slower fall. but looks pretty good other than that? looks like it fell in the direction of the bird mouth. whats the deal? what am I missing?

I agree with you. As an arborist I would have been happy with his standard of workmanship.

Can't stand operators that continually and erratically rev their saws ........ puts a hell of a strain on the engine for no good reason.
