It sounded so exciting when you talked about going across the state of Tennessee, & it is exciting, but you gotta choose safely first, that's what I would do, that river was flowing about 5mph, but I'm sorry you lost a rod, but I'm thankful that you didn't get hurt most of all, can't wait for day 2!👍🎣

Keep on sharing the ups and downs, that’s what we’re here for. No one really enjoys just watching an endless montage of fish catches because that’s not real life. Glad you’re safe, please get a horizontal rod holder so you don’t lose anymore crazy expensive setups and when you’re going through rapids try kneeling in the kayak- it keeps your center of gravity much lower and you can move your weight around to balance better than sitting on your rear. Thank you for giving us a back seat to your adventures and god bless

John, first of all, so glad you are okay. My wife and I went down the Nolichucky River a few years back. Accidentally knocked my paddle overboard coming up on a set of rapids. I basically dog paddle my Bonafide 107 the way through. (While my wife laughed at me) Very scary but made it. I was rewarded with a 19 inch smallie a little later. I'm very certain that we were real close to where you filmed this episode. Keep the videos coming, good luck and be safe out there.

I agree with you, 100%! For a brief moment, I thought that John was a goner! Ya go over like that, and ya never know, but whatcha might hit your head on the rocks, or even break bones in the rocks, or wind up badly injured. That fall he took scared me-Badly!!! I'm so GLAD he wasn't badly injured!!! God was watching out for him-I'm SURE of it! John had a bad scare, but thankfully, he appeared to be alright, afterwards.

Early in the video, I saw that water churning and thought about the possibility of danger but thought you would find some calm water after the first rapid. Nope! I admit I put my hand to my forehead when you flipped as I recalled a similar incident happening to me years ago. You don't forget those. It is scary! Thankfully, you found most of your gear and saved yourself. Great capture of the events of the day though and look forward to seeing the rest of your adventure. God bless!

What a way to start a new adventure. So you got your go pro and you're basically down a rod and reel and plus a bid dose of wet mess. Thanks John. Love your vids. This is not a wreck of a video. This is what makes your vids interesting. Watching guys catch fish after fish is especially boring. Love watching where you go. Love your added bible verses. Love seeing the beautiful scenery of where you go. Still remember back a few years when you fished into a water fall and an area where kids were swimming.. Can't wait to see Day 2.

Im glad you showed your bad day. I had one the other day where i hiked over an hour on a river trail and didn't catch anything. Funny thing is when i finally made it to my spot i dropped my water bottle out of my backpack, down a bank into a briar patch. I couldn't retrieve it and thought i was going to have to call 911 to come and get me lol. It was 90° and i had hiked an hour and had an hour hike back to my car with nothing to drink! All i can say is God helped me back unharmed. Ill never forget that day and i learned to secure my water next time lol.

Wow. So sorry you had that experience. I had a really bad one about 40 years ago. After a rain, I went over a small spillway that was usually quite safe but the water was way higher and the current sucked my boat into the spillway. The boat flipped, I went down and came up three times and finally was able to grab onto my capsized boat, inch forward to the front of the boat and past the circular down and up of the current just over the spillway. Probably about 8 ft deep. I prayed, and my life was spared. I am alive today to tell the tale. Lost all my rods and my big tackle box with my money, wallet, drivers license and around $900 worth of tackle. Worst fishing experience of my life. One reason I've been avoiding buying a Kayak to this day! So glad to see you're OK and retrieved most of your stuff. Keep this up and you'll have to change the name of your channel from Creek Fishing Adventures, to Creek Fishing Misadventures. ...KZbin is an interesting venue. Seeing this happen to you, I feel like it happened to a close friend. Even though you don't know me personally, we (your viewers) sure feel like we know you because you share so much of "you" with us every time you post! So glad you're safe and have kept pushing forward. May God continue to grant you safety and to use you in this profession / ministry. You are indeed a blessing!

I gotta say it:When you went over like that, you scared me, very badly! I thought that you were going to, like, hit your head, or your body, on the rocks! You did lose some stuff...but, thankfully, you look to have pulled through, and you appear to be alright, physically speaking, so I'm thankful to God for that! One thing I'll say for ya-Yer as tough as old shoe leather! Personally, I probably would've just stopped everything, and wouldn't have done anything, for the rest of the day, but you found what you could of your gear, and kept pressing on...and, to me, that's amazing! God bless ya, Brother John! As the old Gospel Song says:Keep on the Firing Line, and keep on being faithful to Almighty God!
@dennisbeaty3335 Жыл бұрын
I am so envious of your skill in casting your lures. Uncanny how you can put it exactly where you want it. I have looked at the segment just before you got swamped several times. In my humble opinion you got swamped because you kept your boat in the main current. The river was curving toward the right and the inside of the curve is much more calm and that's where I want my boat to be. If it is a straight shute I get my boat to one side or the other. Of course the other reason that it happened is you have to carry so much gear. But that's kind of like when we go on camping trips and carry a lot of gear.

I dropped one of my spinning setups off the kayak last week after I caught a big smallie on a buzzbait. Luckily the hook was hung in my net and I was able to save it. Brother Seth, I'll tell you something:When Brother John went over like that, it scared me, very badly! He could've ended up hitting his head against the rocks that are underwater, or could've hit his body against those same rocks...he could've been hurt very badly! Fortunately, I truly believe that Almighty God was looking out for him! Thankfully, he got most of his stuff back, too...but you could see how shaken up he was over that experience. I can only hope that you'll agree with me, that, if God hadn't intervened, it could've been a lot worse, than what it was! How about you? Are you doing alright? I sure hope so! I'm getting ready to celebrate my 61st Birthday, come this Wednesday. Not that I've ever deserved anything that God has ever done for me, but I praise God for keeping me alive, both physically and spiritually! All glory to Almighty God in the highest!

I'm excited to watch this adventure. It's something I always wanted to try myself. I have an outcast pac 1000 pontoon boat. It's great to pack gear on for a trip, but it's a bit harder to maneuver than a kayak, especially against current. It would be good for a trip with a bunch of people in Kayaks and a pontoon boat or two for carrying the camping gear. Ìt actually has a white water rating, I think, class 2, but I have to look up what that means. Anyhow, thanks for sharing and.. FishOn...Jim

I really like how you kept all of this in the video, a lot of times when adventuring the journey is what it is all about and that is the good and the bad. I think all of us who have gone fishing or hunting have a million horror stories like this lol. I remember going fishing with my younger brother and he went to cast and got his line stuck in a tree. I tried to untangle the line and get his hook out but the tree limb had a lot of spring and the line was tight, the branch went flying forward and that hook got set right into my thumb. That was really painful and had to basically cut the barb off to get the hook out of my thumb, but the good thing was my finger hurt like hell but I ended up catching the biggest bass I have ever caught in my life the same day. Now I have the story to remember as well as a decent scar on my right thumb lol.

You said what you did, about not doing WW alone...and it just triggered a memory from a little bit ago, just before John went under. Believe it or not, just before he went under, I was literally thinking the very same thing! Those Rapids looked intimidating enough...and I'm now thinking:"John's out here, doing this, with nobody else to travel with him? That truly is dangerous"! The very next thing:Over he goes! Watching that scared me so badly, that, for a moment, I literally thought:"Oh, no! Creek Fishing Adventures just came to a tragic end"! THANKFULLY, I was wrong! THANKFULLY!!! Being that John is a Devout Christian, I know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that God was with him, by his Spirit, and God kept John from serious injuries...or even worse! That would've stopped me cold in my tracks, and I would've waited, until the next day, or even two to three days, to re-start my trip, if I was him!

Dang man, glad you got everything back I believe. Happened to me not to long ago, but it was shallow and it was due to my micro pole getting hung up in a limb. 😂 I noticed with the Shoalie that it doesn’t drain fast especially with only 4 scupper holes. I always leave all 4 out when I hit rapids for faster drain. Sometimes I forget about the one close to the seat. But having all 4 out helps. Sometimes though the waves are too close together not giving the kayak time to bail. Which is probably what happened to you here. Can’t wait to see the next video in the series.

Thanks for showing us that stuff happens! Nice recovery and it was probably a good call to tap out on the day's float. I flipped my kayak in a similar high current situation less than a month ago.
