I remember strapping all of my toy weapons, guns and knives, grenades etc. to my belt and in there holsters and having a Rambo montage moment in my bedroom at 6 years old. Then we’d go outside and just have fake wars all day.

I grew up in the 90s and we had cap guns LOL. I'll never forget, we were at a toy store and my father saw that they had cap guns and he got all excited ahahaha

I remember that period too, just before we had to have the orange tips on all the guns. I remember the cap gun "Rounds", it was a 6 popper you could put into the snub nose revolvers, working cylinder action. Pop out the sweet smelling used caps, put a new cap round in, and then run around pretending to shoot your friends with that satisfying bark.

That’s exactly what I’d want my kids to be like! Knows the difference between bolt action and semi-automatic! Handles gun safely. Knows bad guys are the ones you shoot. Knows the difference between male and female. Perhaps becomes Biologist.

@@adamjc9683 Yes, I'm fully aware guns have bolts. I am addressing the things I would want my children to know, not what specifically happened in the commercial. There's a distinct difference between "Bolt Action" as in "Bolt Action Rifles" and "semi-automatics" and their operations. Obviously you know your guns and their functions! But I can see how the mistake could be inferred. My Bad!

One halloween I dressed up as an army guy and had a .45 colt cap gun that was indistinguishable from the real thing from far away. I hid behind trees and popped out to shoot at other kids. I can't imagine doing that today. Also lawn darts. I never played the game I would just toss them as high in the air as I could to watch them plunge to earth who knows where.

Compared to now, American cities were clean. Doctors did not do sex reassignment surgery on minors. People dressed presentably. I know, I know. Everyone was racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, bigoted, etc...

Painting fantasy lead figures as a kid was pretty common. It was even encouraged to make your own, melting lead blocks and breathing in lead fumes for hours to set them in casts. God knows what that did to our brains.

Billy mummy. When I was 9 10 11 my friends and I would have bottle rocket and Roman candle fights. We would go to Salem St in the North End of Boston and buy illegal fireworks. Do that today and the DHS will be on your ass. $3 in 1959 was the same as $25 - $30 today.

We were allowed in the late 90s in high school to have a gun in our vehicle,. Use to see them mounted on back window, or left laying on seat. We never had any problems, then Columbine happened and said we couldn't bring them anymore We even had hunter safety at school and you had to shoot at a clay target to pass

A lot of people blame 9/11, rightfully, as the end of the 90s freedom spirit. But Columbine, Waco, and Oklahoma city were arguable more influential. So much changed with Columbine. The entire way we approach schools changed, everything became more "security" focused. I noticed one by one ALL the schools in my city were "updated". The updated buildings were more like prisons, with security cameras every 6 feet on the ceiling. Shop class, drivers ed, hunting, etc - literally anything that could be perceived as remotely dangerous, all disappeared from high schools. Some schools used to help students get pilots licenses too. Now kids graduate with community college credits but they have less skills and less knowledge than ever. We haven't just lost our freedom in our schools but the quality of education is gone too. Go back and watch ANY 90s TV show, even the basic ones like Friends. The characters were so much more articulate and complex. Same thing with old news interviews with people on the street, people were more well-spoken and knowledgeable.

The best part about these old toys is there was not a warning label to be found LOL. And what kid wouldn't want that spy kit? LOL. That looked awesome! I grew up in the 80's, and although not as amazing as the 60's, we still had cap guns, and we used to make potato guns out of PVC. Those things were actually dangerous lol.

I remember what a treat it was to get your hands on caps. If you were lucky you'd have a stack of 5 rolls. At least s roll or 2 would be sacrificed to being smashed with a hammer for maximum results. The rest would be used sparingly and judiciously though it was common practice to double stack caps for a better bang.

I have my 80s childhood Transformer Megatron, still intact. A Walther p38 with rifle/scope/stock options. Life-sized and accurately modeled. It even has some weight to it.

Yeah, those original Transformers were some of the most well made, coolest toys from my childhood. I was mostly a GI Joe kid, but looking back, those Transformers were higher quality toys.

@@wesscotchdog9078 I remember that! I never had that particular one, but I had many of the bigger toys from the GI Joe line. I remember having the Skystriker, the hovercraft, the Hiss tank, and others that I can't remember the name of. Ya know, GI Joe is the property from my childhood that I would've most liked to have seen adapted to film. I know those films came out with the GI Joe name and that recent movie with the Snake Eyes name, but the titles were the only thing that resembled what we knew as kids. Idk if you ever read the comic, but those were some pretty interesting, well told stories.

As a little kid, it seemed like forever for that month to pass to get the next issue. When it seemed as if Destro and Firefly had killed Snake Eyes when his cabin exploded, I remember being legitimately affected! 😆It's fun to check out old issues online, it really takes me back. I have a reproduction of the cover of issue #21"Silent Interlude" framed myself, btw. -edit- I had to look up which issue it was, but I've always thought issue #23 was cool and would be a good one to frame for display.
