Refurbished CP Locomotives Passing Abandoned Railroad Crossing. Abandoned Bridge Over Railroad Tracks, Level RR Crossing That Can't Be Run, Trains Going Under Me & Foreign Power On Norfolk Southern That Includes Union Pacific Railroad, BNSF & Canadian Pacific Railroad. These trains are in Kentucky in Williamstown and Elsmere. Also includes Erlanger Fire Department response over the railroad tracks.
First we see a Norfolk Southern train with 2 refurbished Canadian Pacific classic locomotives in transit. They are crossing the dangerous railroad crossing that I featured nearly a year earlier. The level railway crossing was finally abandoned for good. Does anyone know where the special locomotives are being shipped to and what the story is?
Then we go to an abandoned bridge over the railroad just south of town. A train goes under with 3 different railroad locomotives leading. Whose line is it anyway? Lol. That was a northbound grain train headed to Gest Street Yard in Cincinnati.
Next we see an interesting railroad crossing that is designed to be run around proof. This is the only crossing that I know of like this in the northern Kentucky area. The train passing through is a double stack intermodal heading northbound. On the very end of the train is a lone boxcar. Is that interesting or what?
Then we go north to Elsmere, Kentucky to see a northbound local pass under a bridge that is maintained by Norfolk Southern. While here, the Erlanger Fire Department is responding to a call. We see an ambulance and a fire engine pass over the bridge. That was pretty cool.
Don't miss the pets at the end and the slide show! This video has it all so make sure that you leave a comment. Which train was your favourite and what did you think about the railroad crossings that I featured?
Filmed Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Newly refurbished but by no means new! They're an SD40-2 and a GP38-2, which means they were built in the 1980s or even 1970s.

Forgive me for being a tad truculent, but this tick issue IS a major health consideration! I understand that a tick bite, nearly took the singer Avril Lavine permanently out of her profession: she had that bad of a reaction. Tick bites can be devastating (and debilitating) - so hey, OFF is a good thought, LONG pants, avoid the dense underbrush - so hey, while your videos are great, the commentary is super - perhaps it's time (during the summer months) to avoid the long grass areas. Just a thought. Stay safe.

It may be a difficult crossing to run but the marks at 12:15 suggest that someone tried. On the other hand, the marks and the scattered gravel may have come from a rail maintenance vehicle exiting the tracks.

Plenty of mixed power with the sharp looking CP power coming back from Progressive Rail with #4437 representing one of the last former SOO Line units in white paint. Wow, word travels fast, your video about this dangerous crossing got through to the right people and action was taken, cool new CPKC EMDs too. That other crossing with the dividers is a smart idea to keep impatient drivers from driving around the gates and causing accidents. Sweet sounding EMD on that local too. Nice work JT, stay safe and watch out for those ticks, using OFF is a good option.
