Last night, in Janesville, we had a wicked storm whip up! I was transfixed at the kitchen window watching our neighbors walnut tree swaying with every powerful wind gust. The water was like a curtain being drawn across the air. PLEASE PRAY for safety for all of us in this line of severe weather. We plan to leave for vacation tomorrow morning. I am beside myself with anxiety over this new line of weather tonight!

I need prayer for an addiction to cigarettes that I have been smoking for off and on 50 years I've tried to lay him down it's so hard to do I need prayer to take this addiction away I've tried And. See if you can find something called Phase Out. That's what I did, along with prayer. It took me a bit longer than it should have, but it worked. It pokes holes in your cig butt. More each week. So you gradually get less smoke. When my 4 weeks were through, I wasn't ready. So, I added more holes with a sewing needle. Just be careful not to cover the holes as you smoke. One day, I realized the filter was still white when I put it out. So I said we'll why light them? But my hands still needed something to do. So I held an unlit cig in one hand and my lighter in the other. Then stopped holding the cig. During this I was typing a lot on a chat program . Finally stopped holding the lighter. And when I would get the urge for one. All nicotine was out of my system it was just the motions of smoking I was craving I guess. But when I wanted one, I'd change the subject in my head and go clean the kitchen, feed the dogs, find a chore, then get back on the computer to chat. I stayed away from triggers that I had always smoked with. I had run hubby out of the house when he smoked. I told him I'm going to quit and I really need you to go outside if you are going to smoke . So he said ok. And he hung in there for me. About 2 years or so later he went cold turkey. He worked on our house and hammered. He said he was going to stay away from me as much as he could so he wouldn't bite my head off or hurt my feelings. So he HAMMERED ! Lol He said he was MAD! He said he didn't even know why he was mad but he was madddd. Those poor boards and nails lol. 2 weeks later, he was over it. Now, he says he is sooo embarrassed because he can smell a strong ashtray smell on smokers its in their clothes and hair and heavy smokers it seems to come from their pores. He said here he was doing work in wealthy people's houses smelling like that. We went to see a woman I was once close to and had not seen for maybe 10 or 15 years. She moved back and was working at a vfw hall. It was mellow and she was on shift so it was the only way I could see her when we traveled down there. It was pretty empty at first then it got more full as the evening went on. SMOKE!!! My goodness. We had to go out the back door 3 or 4 times to get air! I woke up the next morning smelling smoke in my hair, my leather purse smelled like smoke for a week or better. My eyes were matted shut from irritation. I got a shower and we headed home. I still smell smoke on people if they walk by me. When I first quit , if I got in a room with a smoker, I would get a sinus infection. Happened 3 or 4 times. Z packs were my friend. Now years later I have peace with God about that, I can smell things I had lost the ability to smell. And I truly believe I would be dead now from copd or a heart attack or worse blood pressure if i had not quit. I thank God for helping me. I knew a woman that used the patches but they make no sense to me. When you put them down, it takes 3 days for nicotine to leave your system. Do not eat hard candy as a substitute. You don't want the sugar and if you have dogs and get xylitol sweetened candy and they get one piece it will kill them by dropping their blood sugar. Maybe take up a hobby. Crochet, needlepoint, counted cross stitch etc. Even painting or puzzles. There is my book on quitting. I hope it helps. I pray the Lord gently takes the desire away from you. That is what I prayed for myself. I knew 2 people who 1 set them down on her coffee table in her late 70s and never picked them up again, and a Nan driving down the freeway that reached for his pack and looked at them and threw them out the window and that was it. There is hope. God bless you and may you just no longer want them one day soon. 😊❤ You and the Lord have got this !

Looks like quite a severe weather event later here in my area sw Chicagoland later this evening.i could see a tornado watch later on. Epecially the i39 int. Rockford Moline to LaSalle IL. Latest guidance locally up to 5,000 j/kg poss. SC ahead of the main line and that line can have embedded circulations very probable. Wind damage very likely. We still have some outages to counties to my west. Also the timing of storms arriving with the lowlevel jet increasing in and close to my area. Heat advisory thi near 110° at 1210 87° dp 78° pt.sunny. I woke up early this morning 3 or 330am to thunder i thought..checked my radar but nothing as the storms had moved past Springfield and south of Champaign IL. Later i heard the news we had a 3.6 earthquake near Somonauk IL. 20 mi. Nw of us. ( about the time i woke up)..Some heard it to Chicago. Thanks Mitch for all your detailed coverage here in ILlinois.
