Here’s another Aruba tip. If you plan to go to Natural Pool, wear some kind of foot coverings. It’s made up of jagged, slippery rocks and can result in some unintended injuries.

Several years back an elderly man who we traveled with on the plane drowned in the surf(4 to 5 Ft waves) from a storm out to sea. The incident happened in front of the Divi Divi and he was 30+ yr visitor, so anybody that's been tossed and got a little sand in the swim suit will tell you, it can happen anywhere on the beaches.Also be aware that getting a loved one back home that has died can be a daunting experience,if you don't have good insurance at least carry your funeral directors contact with you. Our Home Away FROM HOME is very safe and full of friendly people,enjoy, you'll be back.

Great video! My wife and I will be visiting Aruba and are looking forward to seeing this beautiful island. We'll be doing some snorkeling and, having done quite a bit of that in the Bahamas, we'll be careful (I hope) not to brush up against any sea urchins. I've done that a couple times and can speak from personal experience that their very sharp spines can penetrate the skin like a warm knife going through butter, then they break off and are very difficult, and painful, to extract. If you're snorkeling over any reef areas, or even anything other than sand, watch out for those little fellas.

I loved Aruba, been there once and planning to return. However, I got sun poisoning for the first time in my life while in Aruba. I was in bed for almost 2 days and I had red bumps everywhere. I live in the states, not far from a beach. I always love being the sun and I don't burn easily, but the sun in Aruba is no joke. I was also wearing 30spf sunscreen but it was not enough. Next time I go, I'm using 60+ UVA/UVB and will try to remain under the Palapa as much as possible also avoiding direct sun during the strongest hours.

Thank you for a very informative, common sense and practical video - I have been fortunate to have traveled to many places with my husband, kids and friends over most of my life ...but I have never planned or taken a trip on my own. This year, I decided that it was time for me to find a place to escape the winter in Canada, for at least 1 month, with or without company. I have never been to Aruba, and was focusing on the places, I absolutely loved , but it was my mom, who suggested that Aruba was the place to go. After doing some research, talking with a few people, I realized my mom was probably right. My trip is booked, I am excited to be creating my own adventure and your information confirmed - I will have an amazing time. Appreciate the information

Thumbs Up for Hyro! Definetly as a Taxi Driver that is indeed most of the things that I hear in mothly basis that visitors encounter during there stay! Super Good advise. Even with Sun Block you still need to combine shade with Sun. Being whole day in Sun is poison fever in your skin. Refreshing after burning with a towel Ice cold water helps a lot with that pentrating fever in the skin. The other thing about the trade wind on Aruba (as pretty much anyone who's been there will notice) is that you WON''T NOTICE that you're burning in the Sun. We learned the hard way on our honeymoon 25 years ago, and (like dummies) forgot the hard way some years later on our next trip. I'll never forget the Missus picking (ok, cutting then cutting open) aloe leaves by Baby Beach after some locals' advice. In the decades since, we always buy the local Royal Aruba sunscreen. Great stuff. While I'm here, I'm reminded of that T-shirt I loved that I bought on our honeymoon with a drawing of a stork saying "Man, I love this island" or something like that. Sadly, my wife got rid of it after I "fatted out of it" forever ago. :)

Want to spend a few months ( Jan maybe thru April 2022) in Aruba. My wife and I are seniors. We hear it's a beautiful island for atmosphere, beach life, restaurants and maybe a few bars for some early nite night fun with the locals. Any tips on where to stay? We really like to be near a good beach and for a decent price possibly a B&B type of housing arrangement. We reside in the Finger Lake region of NY, USA and are sick of the cold and damp weather. Maybe it us good to mention next time about Baby beach. Despite its name and the security of shallow waters, most drowning by tourist has had its occurance at this beach, simply because they go snorkling and want to see the outer reefs, which are beatiful, but the danger to the non-advanced snorkler are the rip-currents that will cause you to panic and could result in getting you injured or fatal. So always ask someone that knows the area for advice. That is the safest way to navigate in Aruba.

Thank you too, glad you find it informative. It’s usually not a big problem on the island due to our strong winds etc. The period would be from late Sep to early Dec but even so, they would be the worst from say sunrise or sunset (for an hour or so). @LetsgowithHyro
@LetsgowithHyro Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I am off the island for a while so no video on this but: take enough water or something to drink with you as well as sunblock, a cap etc. Try to watch the parades at the beginning. I often see tourists watching the parades at the end which is not the best. By then it’s somewhat disorganised and there are more drunks around which sometimes leads to people who cannot behave. Also the best spots are taken early and many pay for them too. However if you explain that you are a tourist you will often be welcomed to join (for watching). Park your car in a safe place far from the route, this way you can leave early if needed. Park close and you may risk being blocked out.

Everybody knows about the dangers of cacti, Hyro, but growing up on Aruba as my brothers and I did, we all came to know a kind of stinging nettle that grew wild across the island that we kids just called "7-day-itch." If your skin simply brushed against its hairy leaves, those little "hairs" were actually more like tiny needles that then embedded themselves in your skin. So, when you scratched yourself, you just took off the tops and the rest were embedded in your skin, causing a rash-like condition that could last for at least a week -- thus the name! And while you did mention the rattle snakes (even the little white ones were dangerous), when we lived there, there was also a venomous species of coral snake -- with brightly colored rings. You might see more of them on Trinidad or Tobago, but we had them too.
@LetsgowithHyro

Thanks for adding to the topic. I'm wondering if you refer to the "Bringamosa"? Sounds very similar and we stop the itching with some fresh aloe nearby (works like magic). The Santanero also has come venom but not deadly. Don't think it has colors though, so might not be the same.

@LetsgowithHyro
@LetsgowithHyro 3 жыл бұрын
My Pleasure! I don't have the exact figures but in general Aruba is very safe. Just use common sense and you should be ok. Sharks have been filmed at the shore near the Tamarijn recently, but small ones. While some people panicked, it was nothing serious and I've never heard of a local shark attack (btw they are extremely rare near the shore or at the beaches). As for other creatures we do have the Green Moray Eel which lives mostly where it's rocky. So try to never swim too close to the rocky shores, for example at Tres Trapi beach. They will usually not attack you unless they feel threatened. They are rarely seen because they love to hide and basically non existent at the sandy beaches like Palm & Eagle beach.

My husband got ( Sinopharm) but I got 2 different ones ( Sputnik V and Moderna) Is Sputnik V accepted in Aruba?? Because USA, Panamá and other European countries don't accpet it. When you have time, try to answer my question. Thanks friend and sorry for bothering you. Take care of yourself! Abrazos de los 3!!🤗👨‍👩‍👧

Hello my friends, thank you for your question. Aruba as of right now is not requiring our visitors to be vaccinated. Only a Covid test. This can change at some point but I don't see it any time soon. Some other nearby countries are requiring it or plan to. Don't overlook any transit countries you may have to go by that may be requiring that also. Un abrazo y feliz de saber que a lo menos tienen algun tipo de proteccion.

Appreciate the info Hyro... My first summer vacation to the Florida coast we didn't know about the Stingray's... the locals all knew but the tourist rush in to the water and get a severely painful sting and possible secondary bacterial infection... the other danger you missed out was people trying to sell you time shares !!... Also Aruba is 12 degrees north of the equator not 9 12°31′07″N 70°02′09″W (is Oranjestad)

Good points!! There are a few sting rays spotted here (I've never seen one here myself). The time shares are a thing but maybe to a lessor extend dangerous. I may do another video at some point with some issues that others have pointed out and this could be one of them, thanks! Uh 12 degrees, how did I ....permit me.... "freaking miss that" and why I thought 9 degrees. I'm going to have to go over my voice over texts a bit better but you are right I blew that one . Thanks for pointing it out!
