Yesss! Do it! Check out the launches at Smith and Scott Ave in Topsail Beach. If you can lift your kayak, or have scupper wheels, you can get to these docks easily. I trailer mine, and launch it at the ramp, so I bought a pass for Bush’s Marina there in Topsail Beach. Say hi if you ever see me out!

I've done a fair bit if that type of fishing and can I suggest you stand off maybe 10 feet and cast in under the docks and pilings. That way you won't get tangled up with your rod and the structure and also you can pull the fish clear of piles where they can often cut you off with sharp shellfish.

Haha he wears a lot of sunscreen. My friend is Evan, he’s a fishing coach from Salt Strong. Check out his channel @7th_evan_fishing. He’s skilled and funny. The fish we were catching are Sheepshead. They feed on the pilings. If you google “sheepshead teeth” you’ll see where they get their name. They only eat shellfish, so the right bait and placement is key! And they’re tasty!

I used same rods and reels as what I usually use, although I could have used maybe a 6’ rod. The jawbreaker jigs I picked up at Eastern Outfitters. I really like them a lot. The guy that makes them is out of New Bern. I’m sure you’ll get on some sheep’s! I’ve been finding them on surf city pier too. Say hi if you ever see me out and about!

Hello there! I know that the Wrightsville area is over fished. I stick to Topsail, because there are endless spots to check out. The reds like skinny water, and so does the kayak. I prefer the marsh flats personally. But you have to time it right with the tides.

Seems like things are switching up a bit with the water getting warmer. There’s definitely some fish in the surf. Reds have been a bit elusive to me inshore lately. Fishing the Redfish tournament here Saturday. You can always check the Topsail Island Fishing group on Facebook. That’s a great way to see what’s happening.

My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. kzbin.infoUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!
