Depends on how you hold the line.You should wear gloves when using a wire trace,and you should'nt wrap the line around your hand if it's a heavy breaking strain mono, or braid.

Tuna fisherman drag the line using gloves all the time, even huge multipliers need some help when under stress, you'd strip gears otherwise.
