For some reason, it's super satisfying to watch Dave just rip through enemies with a star equipped, and to watch the enemies fly into the other mini screens. It's also great to see the players struggle through their mini screens with all the enemies.

I'm 40 years old and this is a kind of a dream come true. When I was a kid, I played A TON of the original Super Mario Bros. and I became quite good at it. Of course the sequels of the game improved greatly on the formula, but I still kept playing the original and it has a special place in my heart. Now in 2020, I can play it again and battle against other players? YES PLEASE! This is one of the best things Nintendo has done in a good while.

@@LudaChez Yeah obviously. That’s basically what I just said. I only have one win but I’m level 53. Only reason is because I’ve killed as many enemies as possible and survived as long as possible. Most of the time I’m top 10 then I fall in a hole because of too many enemies or being stupid.

Pro tip#1? There is a max enemy cap that you or another player can buffer, which means that if you kill a powerful enemy after 21 others that player will likely never see the bigger threat. Protip#2? You can only cap out your time at 400, so if you get up into that range, use the various level detours to collect coins, with the added bonus of enimies sent to you can NOT buffer to your player. Good for taking a short break from the chaos. Take this from someone who's lowest score is 14 and has 7 1st place wins in a row. Or you know don't, so that I can keep building the winning streak up. My next goal is 10 in a row.

Is there any kind of MMR or level-based pairing? Dave was talking about how it's a lot tougher because all the casuals tried it out for a bit and quit, but he's also level 81 and has had multiple wins and numerous high finishes under his belt. Maybe it's not that the people who die to the first 1-1 Goomba stopped playing, maybe it's just that Dave doesn't get paired up against them any more.

you can achieve this without special battles, too. pick 4-1 every battle and target attackers. once you rack up a ton of coins, start killing lakitu. you can rack up a ton of lakitus and let chaos break free ;)

Dave! If you press the roulette button after you spin it, it will stop faster. Really helps in the heavy enemy areas when you're small mario.

Just a quick tip: If really want to get some KOs, target people in a castle. Some enemies in narrow spaces are hard to avoid.

The levels were not modified, they simply picked a selection of levels (aside from 1-1 and 1-2...) that include enemies that aren't seen as often in the normal battles which are world 1 most of the time. 1-1 and 1-2 a re basically "recovery stages" and its your chance to bank up some coins while hopefully not dying.

I can win most of the time for the regular mode but had a twenty-game losing streak with this special match despite getting 2nd a bunch of times. IDK how TF there were still so many players left alive AFTER the levels start getting flooded with Lakitus! If that’s happened to you, how has it not also happened to most of THEM???? I think I’ll stick to the regular mode from now on because I love winning!

I think this demonstrates why I hate Lakitu as an enemy so much! As a person, he's okay, picking you up and setting you back on the Mario Kart track and things like that. He's a real homie. But as an enemy, he's just really awful.
