Dan the Man Hardy breaks them down better than anyone in the biz. He’s got me pumped for this fight. I think once people see Kamru at 185 they will ask themselves, “how did this guy ever make 170?” We took a picture of my son with him and I shook his hand and he looks huge for 170. Also, he was a supremely nice, classy guy.

@@xavierb9061maybe, or Leon might just be better than we all think. I think this fight is better than Chimaev vs Costa. Remember Burns almost finished Chimaev so Usman might be able to land a big straight right and put him out. I still think Chimaev will win but it’s a lot closer than people are saying at least in my opinion anyway.

Ultimately this is MW so Khamzat is actually more confident in his striking he could decide to swing early but be smart won't shoot until mistake is made use kicks to attempt to annoy Usman to remind him of his problems. Im not disputing this take on Khamzat but I’d like to know where are the facts on him slowing down or getting tired other than what the fight commentators were saying during the fights? Against Kevin , “he’s breathing heavy” against burns he “slowed down” but he didn’t slow down, his output increased with every round, the numbers are there.
@kingofthecasuals
@kingofthecasuals 7 ай бұрын
Well, watch that fight again with Burns, Khamzat was unconscious for a moment after Burns cracked him in the chin. That fight was close. What Burns did was strip away the mystique of this crazy dude from Chechnya that grew up in Sweden. Then, he acted a bit like a 12 year old when he weighed in for the Diaz fight 10 pounds over. And, he wasted no time wrestling Holland because he knew that a stand up battle with Kev wasn’t going to be a good idea. I hope Usman not having to drain another 15 pounds will prove that he should’ve gone to 185 awhile ago. If his knees can hold up, they aren’t going to the ground.

Optics I suppose. His output may have increased but his defense got worse in the Burns fight. I don't necessarily agree that it was a sign of fatigue though. I think it was more of a sign of him not controlling his ego and losing focus more than exhaustion. That is easily corrected with the right coaching.
@Strype13
@Strype13 7 ай бұрын
I think it has more to do with his style of fighting. Dude has a knack for going extremely hard straight from the jump. However, that being said, with this being a three round fight... I don't think that will be nearly as much of a concern. In a five round fight, however, I think it's reasonable to consider the potential for him to blow his wad early and struggle to maintain such a ridiculous pace throughout the remainder of a five-rounder. At this point, we just haven't seen enough to be able to make any accurate assessments in that regard... all we know is he does, indeed, have the potential to push an incredibly taxing pace in the first round or two.

I think Usman wins this one decisively. But if he loses this one, then I'm done supporting him. But if he is in fight shape at all, his cardio is going to win him this fight; Chimaev's fighting style is too aggressive for a 5 round championship fight against a top 3 opponent. Remember Chris Weidman's fighting style, that only worked for 1 round? If Chimaev tries to force constant takedowns, he is going to be completely exhausted by the 2nd round.

Usman did get wild against Leon in the 3rd fight, Leon had Usman looping his shots like he used to when he debuted, he strayed away from the straights and jabs due to Leon's striking, interested to see if Usman sticks back to those fundamentals or can khamzat frustrate Usman abit and bring that out of him
@jariahusfalesima8735
@jariahusfalesima8735 7 ай бұрын
Usman still landed more punches than leon just got out kicked, khamzat don't kick and doesn't control the distance let alone have the technical striking of leon so I can see usman having way more success in the stand up than he did vs leon.

I'm going with khamzat , on the mental side of things khamzat is riding a wave of confidence being young, hungry, and undefeated and Usman is battling some demons having been knocked out cold and then beat going the distance by Leon, respect to him for jumping up a weight class and taking on khamzat but I dunno .... he has a lot of miles , bad knees and coming off back to back losses...

Idk man I got this feeling that Usman is gonna do really well. I think Kamzat will gas. Usman made a career of taking explosive guys and tiring them out.

Solid breakdown as always Dan! So excited for Kamaru Usman Vs Khamzat, the first real test for Khamzat, Will he be able to take down Kamaru? Will Kamaru catch Khamzat with a right hand? So many variables. Should be a amazing match up 💯

If its a standup battle, I like Usman's chances! I think there's two reasons Usman seeked out this matchup: 1.) He won't have to worry about leg kicks. 2.) He trusts in his own take down defense.. then the rest is pretty easy, especially against a guy with no head movement - against Usman's powerful jab. But Khamzat will have the speed advantage. The only question is, will Usman be gun shy like he was against Edwards? Im guessing it was the leg kicks 🤷‍♂️

There's a theme throughout this video, Dan, where you're saying Khamzat just runs forward and throws caution to the wind and it works because it works... Meanwhile the best highlight of his career was starting the fight against GM3 by slowly circling, working GM3 into his power hand side and forcing him to the fence, then shutting his lights off. It was beautifully executed. And he's done things like this a few times. Anyone who thinks the guy isn't smart enough to do anything but "run and smash run and smash!!!"... well, wait until Saturday.

Agreed. Naive to assume he will approach Usman in the same way as the leech or Holland, and to assume that he didnt learn and improve after the Burns war.
@charlesbrown4483

@@JoeSmith-we3jw In a stand up, more technical fight(the kind that Usman usually likes), I think Khamzat presents him a lot of problems. Which makes me think he's not gonna do the bat out of hell thing. But then again he hasn't fought in so long that once he gets in the cage, the plans might go out the window and because he want be able to resist to urge to run and smash lmao. We'll see.

The time difference, heading east rather than west (makes it more difficult), the climate (extremely challenging in Abu Dhabi), older age, wrong weight class and banged up knees. These factors all make it extremely tough for Usman to have a shot... We'll see.

I think there’s a lot that was overlooked here. Usman isn’t the same guy that he used to be. There’s a lot of wear and tear and I think it’ll show in the scrambles. Khamzat will be the bigger man and I think it’s gonna show. Usman I think will have issues with the speed of khamzat. Y’all are still looking at Usman like it’s 2019. I don’t think he’s that guy anymore.

He was more tempered and cautious with Burns, I don’t see why he wouldn’t do the same with Usman. He treated every other fight differently. (although less than stellar victory it was his first true war and he was actually tested, imo he got a B.

I really like Usman’s chances. I think he hits harder. He finished Gilbert with just a jab. Khamzat could not finish Gilbert. All this hype behind khamzat but who has he beat that’s really good, Kevin Holland? He can’t wrestle. If he were to beat someone like Usman or Covington, easily, then yeah holy crap but he has not been able to do that yet or has not had the opportunity. So we will see. Bushman is always training, so no excuses. If Khamzat beats him easily, then you won’t hear me talk about what if with him anymore

Correct, he has not had the opportunity which is why he hasn't been given the chance to fight for the belt, he has not had the opportunity to prove himself worthy yet. Usman was (is?) in the p4p rankings so this is Chimaevs great opportunity.

It's just an interesting match up isn't it. I'm not pulling for one or the other but I gotta lean towards Kamaru unless Khamzat makes adjustments from that Gilbert fight. Gilbert is a good tune up for khamzat That fight serves him well in this fight. Paulo would've been fun as well tho

Not an Usman fan at all but jeez I hope he pulls this off. Lost all respect for Khamzat a while ago. Misses weight, sits back and calls out champs as soon as they fight, gets spoon-fed a no. 1 contender spot in a division he's unranked in and has not fought a single ranked fighter in middleweight. Unfortunately I can definitely see Chimaev getting the W here though.
