Just an idea, and please don’t take this as negative, I know you both and you’re very skilled players. I observed this at Hoylake and Marco Simone this year, and now Churston 😂 With the damp lush rough, the penalty for missing the fairway is quite harsh. How about you two play the same 9 holes in the winter but driver is not allowed. You must use a club that guarantees hitting the fairway eg a 1-iron or mini driver or whatever you like. Just for comparison. Distance off the tee is very over played these days imho
