There's no such thing as a 'simple' wedge shot. Too many variables are involved. Lie, shot distance, weather, and as if that wasn't enough, how does the golfer feel at that point in time. That's why, even more that any of the other clubs, wedge shots are the most complicated. And they should be the most practices along with putting. But most golfers just buy a large bucket and blast away with the driver. JM2C

I am a 8.5 hcp, hit a 3HL wood and a 5 wood about the same carry (235-240 yd) but the 5 wood gives me a perfect height and landing angle. I don’t think 3 wood (15 deg) is really necessary for anybody who can’t launch the ball to the ideal peak height.

The pub on the beach on the peninsula is excellent Reason for delay in watching. 1 Two very excited grandchildren want to play Christmas games 2 Gavin and Stacey special is exactly the same length at 1 hr. 35 min. Wow, Gilly has nailed that completely, for someone who has created variables in all walks of life, golf no exception, this is absolute gold. It is over 90 years ago that S&A hosted the Ryder Cup twice in the 1930's and it still provides a great test for 21st C golfers. James was imperious, he produced similar golf when I saw him play in the PGA at Conwy back in June. I played in the British Universities at S&A/Hillside in '72 and this brought back so many memories. Thank you Dan for the video and the putting lesson.

First I line the putter shaft with a vertical line like a door frame. Then that's the way I will always hold it. Then I try to line the shaft up with the hole and the ball the best I can until the ball is on the edge of the shaft and I double the distance the shaft is from the hole for my spot. If the shaft is to the right of the hole it breaks from right to left. Remember though, to double the length from the shaft to the hole. I do try to get the ball directly behind the shaft as I can for the perfect read.

Hey Dan ,Watching the video and would like to advise Paul to try BOWEN Treatment for his back ,I'm 69 ,have burst a Disc in my back over 30 years ago and suffered ever since ,I started Bowen Treatment in my home Town and I've never felt better ,I can run up and down the stairs ,walk miles and even play golf a lot easier than I have in the last 30 years ,surely it's gotta be worth him trying it ? ,all the best for 2025 !
