There is something so special about them. I’ve never been this affected by an on-screen romance in my life and I believe it’s because for the first time, ever, I feel properly represented on TV. I have NEVER shipped a couple in live action film so much before! It is HORRIBLE how people think that the LGBTQ+ community is being represented in film and literature because on the rare occasion that some piece of decent writing has an LGBTQ+ character (or characters) in it, they're based entirely off of stereotypes. The stereotypes are especially prominent when it's an LGBTQ+ relationship that is being portrayed and not just some low-life, angsty LGBTQ+ character who's arc never changes and was only brought in so the writing could "stand out." Sorry, that sounded a bit aggressive.

Exactly. Bly Manor was the first time I felt I was properly represented too. Dani's struggles in the past, how the romance between them felt like coming home. They're just two young women who fall in love and it's incredibly real.

i feel the reason this hurt so much is because we (or at least i) didn’t expect it, at all. like, i remember when i finished watching hill house and discovered that bly was coming out. i waited for WEEKS thinking it was this scary show about a little girl and a creepy song because THAT IS LITERALLY EVERYTHING WE GOT ON THE TEASER! it was so unexpected and heartbreaking. and the way you find out at the end that it’s jamie telling the story to flora at her wedding is just ughhhhh. also the relationship between them is so genuine and full of love, it avoids all of the unnecessary drama couples often have on tv shows, and the way the actresses portray it oml you can feel every single drop of every single thing they are feeling. i just love this show so much, it’s truly a work of art

often when I talk about this show with friends, I talk about the ending, because it really hits for me. when I first watched the show, I was distraught. I didn't want it to end like that, didn't want them to lose, didn't want Dani to die. But as I sat with it, I realized I wouldn't have been satisfied if it ended any other way. It wouldn't have been as impactful, wouldn't have had as much emotion if they just lived out the rest of their lives and nothing ever happened, or they freed Dani from the curse or whatever. It wouldn't have felt as real, and showing the years they spend together wouldn't have served the story if it ended happily ever after. It's impactful because, despite everything, they had the time to be happy. They had ten years to love each other, ten years to know each other, ten years to be together before the world kept spinning. Even though it wasn't forever, even though in the grand scheme of things it wasn't long, they were together for a time, and they were happy, and they loved each other. Even though it ended, it still happened. And that's why I wouldn't change a damn thing about the ending.
