I was buzzing to see Sabbath come up first! And the rest of the albums were great too. I've not heard of Daniel Avery before, but I'll definitely be checking them out now. This series is a great way to find new music

Daniel definitely succeeds in taking the listener into another world. Ultra Truth makes me feel a way I've never quite felt before, it somehow feels simultaneously inviting and uneasy. I never quite feel "safe" when listening to the record, and yet it doesn't feel pessimistic or overly dark. The closest thing I can compare the feeling I get from the record is trying to recall a memory that has faded.. you still vaguely feel the emotions that memory brought you but you can no longer piece together the details.

This guy is a very individual soul. You can tell he's not that comfortable speaking about himself, his music does that for him. A real artist. Sweet hearing about his connection with Haai
@crispybits3765 Жыл бұрын
Seems like a top guy. A lot of electronic music fans, Djs and producers started off loving rock and metal, and found that electronic stuff (techno in particular) had the same impact upon them in later life. The energy in both genres is very similar imo.

This was such a wonderful and interesting episode, thank you so much, Amoeba. Daniel has been a great inspiration of mine since 2014, after the release of Drone Logic, an absolute favourite of mine. He’s such a cool, decent and innovative individual. I’ve never met him in person, but I’d love to. I know he’s also a huge fan of NIN. Also, Happy belated Birthday to Daniel! Thanks again! It would be absolutely amazing to visit Amoeba someday! All the way from South Africa.

This gave me my hipster fix for the day. Case in point: referring to a band as a "collective" and a "collective of like minded souls". It's called a band.
@bjornunderabadsign Жыл бұрын
True but he wasn’t actually talking about bands in that part, something more like music scenes.
@reginaldperiwinkle Жыл бұрын
@@bjornunderabadsign Nah. He was talking about "wanting to form a gang" or a "collection of likeminded souls" on his album. It starts at 4:36 and goes to 5:00. He's a bit incoherent, but that's because he's a hipster, and he eventually spits out this basic idea. He was definitely talking about "a band" with a bunch of too-cool-for-school mumbo jumbo. He's a hipster, which I enjoy through a certain amount of natural hostility.
