I like it ..... Okay ... it' a rather romantic interpretation and the tempos are being wildly swung around. But somehow much more satisfying that either the Gould or Gilels. The scale passages sparkle and I love the "dialogue" of both hands in the 'dolce' section. Too many performers seem to shortchange those beautiful bass voices. And the two against three portion is the best I've heard so far. Lovely treat.

There really isn't definitively a 'best' piano maker in the world. It completely depends on the individual instrument and the player. I tend to agree that Steinways are more likely to sound beautiful and be easy to control, but then again I've played Bosendorfers that feel like the greatest instruments I've ever played. It's really a subjective question. I, for one, tend to think Yamahas are too bright and difficult to control, yet listen to how Richter made them sound!

Beethoven did not write pieces to go along the tempo. It's up to you to decide where to make things fast or slow.
@Mrmmm88
@Mrmmm88 7 жыл бұрын
Tony Li Unfortunately your statement could not be more inaccurate. Beethoven is one of the first composers who insisted upon correct tempo, dynamics, articulations etc. Though the first 11 piano sonatas original scores are no longer in existence. We can clearly see that the next 21 he wrote are marked with very specific tempos etc in his own hand writing. Educate yourself then provide interesting facts. Not uneducated opinions.

Too romantic his interpretation...incomprehensible tempo changes and the strong echo in the recording disguises that he often plays quite unclean. I would never say that I am a better pianist but his playing of Beethoven is very questionable. Though I really enjoy him conducting Bruckner.

Guess what I'm a full grown adult just learning this piece, but I've also played pieces that my peers haven't played . That's what's great about learning music! ❤️there are no barriers race or age. Beethoven hardly played his own music in the style of the classical period. Read any account of his playing and you will learn he was a romantic in his playing from an early age. His playing was what invented the romantic era style.
