Daniel Barenboim & Rolando Villazón - Bizet: Carmen "La fleur que tu m'avais jetée"

'La fleur que m'avais jettée' is one of Bizet's famous arias from his opera Carmen performed by Rolando Villazón. This 2006 production was declared a great success. Rolando Villazón's beautiful tenor voice and the illustrious Staatskapelle Berlin under the baton of Daniel Barenboim make this production an operatic experience not to be missed!

Splendide phrasé, musicalité soignée à l'extrême; seuls les "é" prononcés "è" trahissent un léger accent. On aurait aimé que le Sib final respecte la nuance piano (ou mieux encore, diminuendo jusqu'à un impalpable pianissimo, comme le fait l'incomparable Alain Vanzo). Mais c'est vraiment une très belle interprétation.

Corelli, he sings this aria with the splendid and huge voice we know, and a great involvement, but his french is really exotic (the "r" are really too rolled > rrrrrrrrrrr and the nasal vowels are all detached > a'm o'm instead of being pronounced as a unique sound. And we miss the piano on the final B-flat.
