Dana said a little shpeck about him in the post interview but no one has said anything or shown Stipe or his career the proper respect. I can’t believe how off people are about what Jon is doing. He’s made it clear he wants to be paid as if this is the fight fans are clamoring for. If he doesn’t get what he feels he’s worth, he’ll walk away-and honestly, it’s not that complicated. Remember, Jon cares more about how much he’s paid than who his opponent is. Sure, Tom gets on his nerves a little, but Jon would fight him if Dana was willing to fork over a little more cash. Think about it: it’s like any job. If you feel underpaid, why would you take on more work for the same compensation? Jon isn’t your typical fighter, and I agree he deserves the pay bump. If Tom ever finds himself in a similar situation, I hope fans show the same energy they have for Jon now when it’s Tom’s turn in the spotlight-but let’s be honest, that probably won’t happen. All I’m saying is, take a step back and look at the whole picture instead of through this narrow narrative of him ducking. It only shows how emotional and reactionary people are being.

Rodger Mayweather once said "most people don't know shit about boxing" That can be translated today to "Most people don't know shit about fighting" I would say about 80% of MMA/ UFC watchers are casual fans who have never been inside of a fight gym. The other 15% are students who study and train in a fight gym, and the other 5% are the UFC fighters themselves. So basically, 80% of the community is going to be toxic because they have no real clue what's going on at that level. Despite them believing they do.

DC may be missing the point here. I think majority of us believe Jon Jones beats Aspinall. The reason he should fight Aspinall is because he's the biggest competitive threat to Jones, as he admitted himself, and the man DEFENDED an interim title which simply can't happen by definition, therefor Tom is the champion in the people's eyes. Jon needed to fight Aspinall to rightfully earn his title BACK. The moment he defended that interim title, Aspinall became the real Champ.

I don't think Jon wanting F you money has anything to do with Aspinal, people just don't seem to understand where Jon is at, he's genuinely happy to be done, happy with his body of work, his career, and to walk away on top. Jon's saying, "If I'm going to continue fighting, there needs to be a reason to stick around." People can love that, hate that, makes no difference, the man is happy to retire, but you offer him something he can't refuse and he'll take the fight.

@CommanderOfLight3 күн бұрын
@chiefhardy6312 No, it doesn't lol. It's very simple, Alex has become somewhat of a superstar in the sport, inside and outside of the ring, Jon likes that. Outside of feeding the ego's of people Jon will never know, he doesn't see the same value in Tom. He can acknowledge his skill, but he's just the next guy, and, like I said, Jon's happy to retire, if he's going to stuck around for any reason, it's for a fight that he deems will add some name value to his legacy, or for F you money, it's that simple, those are his terms.
@CommanderOfLight3 күн бұрын
@forwardmoving8252 Unfortunately your fragile ego won't allow you to see what is glaringly obvious. Jon wants fights that mean something to him personally. Understand that, *personally*, he could give a F less what you want, like I said, he's happy to retire. Stipe is a name he wanted on his resume. Alex has become somewhat of a superstar by his performances, Jon sees value in that. Jon can acknowledge Tom's skill, but he's just the next guy. It's very simple to understand, and quite frankly, it's wild that you can't. There's only 3 options. 1) Happy to retire 2) Fight a name he personally sees value in 3) Get paid F you money to fight the next guy

Sure, Jon may have beat the HW Greatest a week ago. But Stipe was at his greatest 4-5 years ago as a fighter. Timing is very relevant in this sport. As far as we know the Stipe we saw in that fight may not even properly belong in the top 10 anymore. So yeh, most people that are not complete Jones fanboys were and are still alot more intrigued by Jon v Tom. Jon is perhaps the most skilled MMA fighter ever in the heavier weight classes, and in Tom we see someone with skills and physical ability that may challenge Jon. No one really thought Gane would be a high level threat to Jon, Jons grappling combined with his standup threat was just too much. And a Pereira fight will play out in the exact same manner. Poatan has a punchers chance v Jon... great puncher as Poatan is, still not enough to be exciting. The only fight of interest left for Jon right now is Tom. Now if Poatan beats Ankalaev and Jon beats Tom, go ahead and make that fight.
