True, I also thought the same, Volk instantly went in with a lot of kicks it was a prove that gameplan was to keep Topuria away, and it seemed to puzzle Topuria in the beginning, he wasn't able to find his rhythm in the first round, but he slowly found it and found that KO shot. I know many people have hot takes and defend their own guys, Topuria isn't even my guy, but I believe he will be the champ for a very long time, not Volk's rematch, not Max, nobody will be able to defeat him, only chance is if some new contender appears, I somehow agree with him that most of 45ers don't make sense right now as he said, but Max is more or less a good fight, but first he has to survive fight at 55.

Yeah most of these 145ers are inactive but expect title shots. Ortega being the most obvious example hasnt fought in who knows how long and if he isnt fighting for a title he makes sure he fights someone he knows he can beat and then fights for the title again (He is like the Colby Covington of the FW division). I feel like a lot of people focus on what Volk didn't do and I think it's really unfair to Topuria. He was making Volk move to his left (Ilia's right) a lot in the fight. He was cutting angles brilliantly and slipping Volk's jabs trying to corner him and was willing to take shots to get him to where he wanted him to be to open up with his combination. Once he got him there, he opened up and we all saw what happened. Ilia is SCARY!!

‘Stepping over himself’ no you do not know what you’re looking at. At no point did Ilia step over himself or cross his feet. His footwork was subtle and brilliant. It wouldn’t have mattered if Volk followed up with something after the jab. Ilia doesn’t care about Volk’s power so whether Volk is throwing or not Ilia still catches him. Do you see how far off the centerline Ilia’s head is when he’s throwing?

What goes up usually comes down in UFC. Very few stay undefeated after fighting the best in the world for so long. It does seem like the end of an era now that Volk has lost the Featherweight belt. I just don't want to see him go down the same road as Tony Ferguson, where every fight he takes might be the one that finally gets him another W, then before you know it you have a massive losing streak. For now though we can know that he lost to two very dangerous fighters, it's not as if he lost to nobodies. Usman is in the same boat, from a guy that looked untouchable to now on a losing streak.

Only one problem with IT. He has terrible head movement and takes damage. If he can’t get his power shots in, then he will be cleaned out over 5 rounds by a Volk style fighter. Also he is very small, should he ever try and step up, he will get man handled. He’ll do well for a year or two but then all the above will bit him. Could be a legend but so many years to see how that plays out.
