Unfortunately, it’s monetarily driven and being a champion and defending multiple times won’t always help get a rematch. Tyron Woodley is another prime example. Then on the opposite spectrum you may not ever defend and get a rematch or title shots or even have become a champion. Chael Sonnen, Cody Gardbrandt, Frankie Edgar are a couple of examples that come to mind.
