@@gordon5008 Except that it’s a DD. I think this is for dudes with more money than time. Dudes that make $180,000+. They want guns that work, they don’t have time to mail guns back for a warranty repair. Guys that have kids, long hours jobs, other civic obligations where their time is at a premium. They get to the range 5 times a year, and when they go they don’t need their PSA to break so they have the privilege of using the great PSA warranty.

Out of 5 dd ar15s that I've handled, 3 had burs on the bolt carrier that would literally cut you and all 5 had worse mill marks than p.s.a. they are nothing more than over priced garbage anymore.

eh i'd say you can build an ar-9 with better recoil feel for about 700 ish. look up "gentle recoil 9mm" should be enough words to find the guy who has put alot of time into making an ar-9 recoil really nicely.

The KynSHOT AR 9 mm Buffer in this is $150. You can buy a PSA AR-V, and this buffer for a grand. Another $550 to upgrade the trigger to a Rarebreed FRT and you've got a poor man's SMG.

Yeah, I’ll stick with my scorpion at less than half the cost. Thousands of rounds fired, never failed. Accuracy is fine for what it’s used for. DD thinks everything they make is somehow worth its weight in gold. They make good stuff, but they aren’t that much better than a lot of others that cost a lot less.

I picked up a police trade in Colt 9mm SBR for $450 swapped out the buffer system with the maximum defense roller delay buffer and holy cow that gun rocks and rolls with Winchester 115gr military overrun.

Looks like a nice PCC. Other than it takes scorp mags, which is cool, I guess, that buffer is a KynSHOT. I have run them in my 9mm PCCs and my AR-15s and AR-10s and they do seem to help a little bit. As it stands now, I feel that Daniel Defense has had too many QC issues across the board. In addition, for $2K, why not just spend a little more and the the best, the B&T APC9 Pro? I have SBR'd mine, the Glock mag version, and it has never once had a failure of any kind in several thousand rounds and the bolt has always locked back. In fact, I ran it suppressed in a sub-gun match with a friend's (07 FFL) select fire lower and bolt and it ate about 2K rounds that day without a hitch. DD used to be worth the spend, but not to me anymore, especially after the chrome lining on my DD MK18 upper literally started peeling away from the bore after about 1500 rounds. Ugh! Get a B&T and have the best that money can buy. Great video as always!

after seeing a alot from a guy who's been trying to tone down the ar-9's stiff recoil (not alot but certainly more than 5.56) that hydraulic buffer is next to useless, shows me they didn't really R&D this thing. they coded a new file for this reciever shape and threw parts at it.....i'll give ya 750.

I'd rather buy a CZ for half or third of the price, you can mod it to be incredible, but still being much cheaper than the base daniel defense pcc.

My AR-V with an enhanced feed cone 5.5” barrel, CAT MOB tucked into a YHM hand guard and a 10oz buffer will outrun this any day. I’d take bets on it. At about the same total cost of just this rifle.

It looks nice, but I think that you’re paying for the name more than anything else. I’ll stick with the Ruger PCC, model 19122. If I buy another pistol caliber variant, it’ll probably be the Ruger LC Carbine, model 19307. Steps it up to 10mm with a 30+1 capacity, and it’s right around $1K.

Saw one for 1700. Took a look at one and it's double as good as a cz scorpion and priced right when compared to a apc9 bandt that is direct blowback also. Super nice gun that takes cz mags. I'll be getting one when I can.

the psa mags are a slightly larger dimension. the opening is slightly smaller than psa mags would like so that the pmags don't wobble a ton. all you need to do is polish down that flat part on the top front of the mag to loosen it a little. and if you don't overdo it, you can get it to fit perfectly with zero wobble.

Cool new DD PCC! Also consider for less money, you can ALSO get a CMMG that takes Colt mags for 1500-1750 that is MUCH softer. This is nothing more than a Daniel Defense 9mm AR with nothing special. Also consider that New Frontier Armory also offers a scorpion compatible lower for much cheaper and will work with standard parts.

I love the looks of DD rifles and if this was 5.56, 7.62, 300 black or any other intermediate cartridge I would consider it for $2k. Outside of the mp5 and maybe that tp9 pro that’s coming out I haven’t seen a pcc that’s worth more than $700

A missed opportunity by DD. You could by a Foxtrot Mike PCC or Palmetto for $650. Buy a hydraulic buffer and carbine spring for $125 and have the functional equivalent of that gun DD should have engineered a roller delay system like the Stribog, MP5 or Blackjack

JP Enterprises makes a similar product that I believe you have to take a mortgage out on. 2K still expensive for not much innovation. I do enjoy DD products. What I am disappointed is many of these manufacturers other than perhaps CMMG make PCC that take proprietary mags or from a single design. I still don't know why Sig did not make and MPX that takes P320 mags given the M17/M18 is the new sidearm for the military. Seems a logical extension and contract negotiation piece IMO. Would be cool if DD made conversion kits so that the PCC could be adapted to take say Sig P320, SW MP 2.0, Glock mags as these are routinely top selling pistols in the USA with mags readily available. That would be innovation.

Buy a Maxim Defense RDB (ball-bearing delayed blowback hydraulic buffer system for AR-9s) for about $150 and I have a $950 DD PCC thats 1) delayed blowback 2) uses Evo magazines 3)has two kinds of magazine release -- paddles and button 4) made in North Dakota by Americans 5) Uses a side charging handle instead of a proprietary length T-handle.

I got a couple emails from Daniel Defense stating the exterior of the barrel is nitrided, but not the interior. Any idea why they might have gone that route? I would think it would be easier to just nitride the whole barrel and increase wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Did you have any problems with gas in the face with the suppressor on? The SPR is on my shortlist just waiting for the Cerakote options. I personally like the fact, they went with a straight blowback with a hydraulic buffer. Easier to maintain over the long-haul. Thanks for the review.

@ it’s a drop in buffer system for an ar9, uses ball bearings under heavy spring tension to delay the cycling of the bolt. maxim makes it. Gives you lighter recoil and eliminates bolt bounce, also makes an ar9 suppress better with the increased lock time. Look it up there’s a few decent videos about it. I mainly wanted it for the bolt bounce and better suppression. It lightens recoil but still not as soft as an mp5. I think scheels also makes a roller delayed buffer system as well but it requires their buffer tube and I didn’t want to go that route because I have a pdw style brace on mine.

The maxim buffer definitely works as advertised and I got it because I caught it on sale for 120 awhile ago on OpticsPlanet I think. Also like I said before suppression and bolt bounce were my main goals with it because I want my ar9 to run safely with an FRT someday

There are other 9mm AR9's that take Scorpion Mags. It's not out of the budget, it's just not worth the money. I would spend 3k on a PCC if it was innovative and the feature set was inline with the price point.

The MPX mags have metal feed lips, and the lancers have a metal mag catch interface. The new Thril mags for the MPX run about $36 each and hold 35 rounds.

Why Scorpion mags? If you own a scorpion, you don't need this DD. It seems to me you would build/market a 9mm PCC to folks that have a (conventional) 9mm and make it with Glock or Smith mags.

Here is how you testing how far you can push your brand name, and name only: use an existing design but only change the magazine it uses, slap your brand name on there and charge for 2k. I could understand if it was roller delayed, fine, charge $2k. But a basic blowback AR9....c'mon. That DD rollmark on the side doesn't impress me that much. And I own a DDM4. This is a money grab towards brand whores that care more about what's stamped on the side of the receiver than the actual firearm itself. I'll take a Stribog or CZ Scorpion over this all day every day. Hell, a PSA ARV with a hydraulic buffer for less than half the cost.
