Meditation takes much and is challenging but if you are strong in meditation the changes last whereas psychedelics are a quick and easy change but it goes away.
@harrisonshields7084Ай бұрын
I think this phenomenon is what has inspired the modern emphasis on integration, though. We noticed that it tends to go away, so we have begun building techniques to embody what we’ve learned and turn them into real world practices which we can bring with us to build a better life and better world. I completely agree with you on the meditation side.

I've heard alot of bs saying there's no right way to meditate. There's definitely right ways to meditate which truly affects the degree to which you get experiences.
@lucbriedecooper2 жыл бұрын
I mean there's different meditation paths that have a particular technique and order to what you're doing and if you play around with what you're doing it can take away progress. So yea there's the right way to meditate within a particular practise of meditation. JUST doing anapana would be hilarious to a Vipassana meditator where anapana is a tool to strengthen your vipassana. Like you only do anapana?? But maybe their goal is to concentrate their focus in which case anapana will do that

Daniel makes enlightenment seem like a hellscape. Read his book....many people criticize Daniel's interpretation of the stages of insight. He is pretty interesting to listen to, and I think he's achieved a lot in meditation...but not sure about full enlightenment for any human being.

Do you know by any chance whether supplementing with micro doses of psy. can help or hinder ones natural ability in reaching altered states of consciousness (ASCs) through concentration meditation? 🧘 (attaining 1-8 Jhanas in Bhudist terminology)
@adventuresinawareness4 жыл бұрын
Hi Konstantin - You can check out 32 mins in, Daniel talks about micro-dosing. I'm not familiar with any studies looking at this particular topic, but lets hope things move in that direction. Meanwhile, you may find this article useful: psychedelicsociety.org.uk/news/psychedelics-meditation-amp-enlightenment-part-2

There are things you can do to make the Piti come on stronger. I don't think psychedelics are going to boost that in a predictable way. Just devour books on jhana. Take a long time in access concentration for a bigger blast of Piti. Maybe look into energetic practices...

Is Daniel Ingram familiar with Jeffrey Martins research and his finders book & course?
@adventuresinawareness4 жыл бұрын
Yes, he is familiar with his work, and was, in fact, one of his early research subjects. My understanding is that Daniel feels that the same techniques Jeffrey uses can be found for free online in many places and has some questions about his scientific methodologies and conclusions, generally preferring a more multidimensional approach to modelling development along various axes. (For disclosure, I've participated in and been a facilitator on the Finders Course)
@dougamburgey57703 жыл бұрын
Certainly we need more science on this stuff. I don't think it wise to shut these tools off in any way. For me I've had nothing but great things happen to me. This world is definetely more wierd than some of us are ready for but yeah you should do research before doing them because spirituality and psychedelics are no everday path.

I really feel like anything called buddhism shouldn't advocate any drug.... you just never know who you're talking to. There is too much to be lost in someone losing brain function, getting into other drugs, causing harm to others. Of course there can be benefit, but for the most part psychedelics are used for a peak experience and then getting back to work... getting HIGH!

except he's not enlightened in the Buddhist sense... without any ill will that i'm saying this, no arhat is liable to passion, aversion and delusion while daniel ingram experiences anger, engage in sexual intercourse, proud (conceit) of having a 'dr.' title from completing his phd and sells the 'dhamma' for money. he can claim to have experienced profound meditative states and so on which exist before the Buddha but in no way can his being be considered a Buddhist enlightenment, and not even a sotapanna (first stage of four) since according to the suttas he would have 'wrong view'
