Y’all are so attached to the teen angst driven music of Daniel that you cannot see his potential at a young age was bursting at the seams to create music far beyond the boundary of rock. Yeah early Silverchair was awesome in its own way but Daniel is a brave and authentic musician for continuing to push his own boundaries into what he desires and he deserves respect for that. Daniel’s brilliance and skill is beyond what most listeners can comprehend.

I just put down a comment about this too. Some singers or musicians don't think like regular band members or bands some times, and I think he fits into that mold. He pushed his musical talents to thier limits and beyond with so many different ideas and genres of music that it's hard for people who just want him to play one style of music to comprehend. As an artist, I think he's truly gifted. I play favorites to Silverchairs first albums because I'm a Metalhead at heart but his evolution as an artist is truly phenomenal and I appreciate his music none the less.

And? Only a musician thinks that way, most people are either moved or not moved by your music. Simple answer, if people aren’t interested they won’t listen and they won’t buy. You can’t force them to listen out of respect for his talent and musicianship.

I loved when Silverchair first came out, they killed. But I can see throughout the years he's worked on his voice to develop it to its maximum potential and i think part of that was for him to explore other genres of music to test his personal style and vocal range. His voice is phenomenal now but he's truly a pop singer now and a great one at that. I still prefer the old school Silverchair honestly but his evolution as a singer is as good and diverse as it gets. He's a truly gifted talent.

In the 90s they were out of this world considering they were teenagers. After 2000 they became just an average uninteresting pop rock act, they definitely lost their edge. I even think his voice was much better in the 90s. I don't like it when bands decide to experiment and "discover" themselves way too much.

He was way too young in the beginning for the onslaught of world fame. I think it’s fucked him up. It’s a shame. I’d love silverchair to get back in the studio now and do a good old fashioned three piece bare bones rock album. Strip it back and get real with each other again. Frog stomp 2.0 could be something exceptional with all that life experience that’s been gained becoming adults.

I still struggle to come to terms with the soul crushing disappointment he bafflingly mutated into after DIORAMA. I can not begin to fathom how a formerly phenomenal musician such as he was can fall so impossibly far down and crash through the basement floor of the musical abyss. I never quite understood the dislike for DJ. Then again, I won't pretend to have been the biggest Silverchair fan or, followed his entire career. However, at roughly 40 years of age, who can say that, they are exactly like they were, between the ages of say, 15 to 25? Or, that they have the same exact passions in life? Now, I'm not saying that, you have to follow his career or, like what he is doing now. Not at all. But, just allow for the fact that, he's aged, grown up, moved on from something that he clearly no longer feels anymore. Where's the huge injustice in all of that?

So true mate, i personally am not a fan of his current art but will always support his freedom to experiment. I suppose lots of listeners just like that AC/DC kind of formula...familiar, fun and easy. As a musician, i get why artists feel afraid to disappoint their listeners by evolving and yet i have great respect for the ones with the balls who do keep evolving, even if it alienates their fans like Silverchair did.

This is not an accurate depiction of the evolution of Daniel's music, but more of an evolution of Daniel himself. You showed him playing songs from Frogstomp and Freak Show years after he had written them. A few of his performances were even covers of other bands. And where are some of his epic songs like "Emotion Sickness" or "Tuna In The Brine?" I appreciate the inclusion of his later work after Silverchair like the Qantas Airways theme and stuff from My Mind's Own Melody, but what about the songs he wrote after Young Modern like "Machina Collecta" and "Aerial Love" from his solo album Talk? I, too, miss the old Daniel's brilliant song writing like everyone else, but this video was equally as disappointing.

I've never had the chance to see that last clip of this video (acoustic version of 'the greatest view') there's another one that is actually older, but the one from 2016 has never surfaced entirely here on KZbin :( Does anybody have a link?
