Ist there not a big different between jews and Zion?
@TheatreofPhil10 ай бұрын
@@sarahmorgenstern2731 Zion is a place name; Jews are a people. So yes, there's a big difference between Jews and Zion. It's a bit like asking whether there's a difference between the Irish and Dublin. The problem is that Zionism (a colonialist ideology) has come to dominate modern Judaism in a way it really didn't for much of Jewish history. Even in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, there was a strong Jewish internationalist movement that opposed the idea of Jews moving to Palestine. For internationalist Jews, "Zion" tended to mean not the place as such but a state of holiness.
@sarahmorgenstern273110 ай бұрын

The secret to liberation is in defending secular Constitutions wherever they are in place. America is on the verge of being a theocracy and Israel is well beyond that. The place where everyone can practice any faith or lack of faith equally is a secular state, because its core raison d'etre isn't religion.

Why do people hate anti-semites?
@tom-kz9pb2 жыл бұрын
@@mudr.krakonoskrakonosovic1827 Because many of the nicest and brightest people in the world are Jewish and because anti-semitism is an artifact based on superficial pretexts that have no basis in reality. Jews have been blamed for one thing and the opposite of thing, showing the absurdity of it all , such as in blaming them both for being Marxists and being greedy bankers, which is the opposite of a Marxist. I not buy either that there is "blame" in Marxism as probably no one has had more genuine concern for exploited workers, a perfectly legitimate cause regardless of results in the attempted pursuit of that cause. The hate has been largely a result of worshipping different unicorns and in the propaganda of wealthy interests that despise Marxism simply because the economic philosophy is a threat to their excessive wealth. The Marxism connection at any rate seems largely historical, except maybe for a few such as Daniel Kahn. I say that the struggle is not over, because MarxIsm and communism were never really the story, but just chapters in the story. The real story is that of rich vs poor, which is as old as humanity and unresolved. It will not be resolved until all classes are satisfied with their lot.

Thank you. This is an admirable lesson of life ! the only word I know in yiddish is "mishiguene". Marie my friend, her father refugee from Poland in France with a family of three, 2 girls and a newborn, was arrested and deported, did not come back. Mother and newborn were hidden in a basement, the two girls find shelter with catholics nuns. After war, Marie had bad relations with her mother who would call her mishiguene all the time. My dad (soldier) was prisoner in Germany five years. I guess the fact he had studied latin, greek and german and as sub-officer made them keep him. People of my generation never understood the silence of witnesses.

Tho the word they would use is unfortunately problematic in itself: "Gipsy" (again, I'm sorry - but since they actually are a Romani band, they've chosen to use that word). I dunno if youtube links work in youtube comments any more, but anyone interested should check out the songs "Wonderlust King" and "Immigraniada" by Gogol Bordello!
