Well, Daniel, I must have heard this concerto a number of times over the last 50 years, but this performance with your playing had that something extra special. A very good orchestra. I was especially captivated in the first movement. There was not a dull moment. The slower movement was sensitively played. You had obviously practiced your scales and arpeggios. I think there was a little touch from Heaven above!

Rachmaninoff, who had this immortal concerto in his own mighty repertoire, remarked that it was the most perfectly conceived piano concerto ever composed. This awesome performance indubitably helps substantiate this claim by "the master of melancholy and Bard of intimate moods." During the flute solo, one can easily imagine the songbirds in their trees giving pause to their own rhapsodic, golden-throated calls when this heart-stirring tune falls upon their sensitive ears. First class performance all the way!!!! Stunning Power, Sensitivity, Technique, Poise, Balance. But, Why do they cut the vid short when he finishes playing? We ALL want to be part of his interaction with the audience and orchestra as he receives the praises from everyone for such masterful playing. That's all part of it!!! We want to see the audience cheering and jumping to their feet. We want to see the orchestra also stand in honor of this Great Young Pianist. This is ALL part of the whole performance. If there were any encores they should also be included in the vid!!!!!!!!!!!!

Daniel Kharitonov is a keyboard giant. His Beethoven comparable to Gilels , his Rachmaninoff comparable to young Horowitz and his Tchaikovsky Concerto can stand next to Argerich, Horowitz and Cziffra. He should have won the Gold Medal in 2015

Your interpretations are sincere, your passion is deep: straight from the heart. The cadenza was great. The second movement, mostly the orchestra part could be a little slower (it’s such beautiful movement) but it was well interpreted. And the last movement was really virtuosic but in an intelligent, mature way (not just for the sake of playing fast/virtuosity). You play it with gusto. This was my grandfather’s favorite romantic piano concerto. I haven’t heard this concerto played this well for a long time. This was also one of Teresa Carreño’s favorite piano concertos. She had an excellent relationship with Grieg and played a lot of his music throughout her career (“the correspondence between Carreño and Grieg demonstrate Grieg’s preference for Teresa Carreño as soloist- despite his access to other great pianists-as well as their friendship and collegiality, choices in repertoire selection, concert preparations, and other important events in their lives”). Bravo, Daniel!!!
