@deanneb69252 ай бұрын
With Daniel, it really was all about timing. And I don’t understand how people think him leaving Red Bull was a bad idea. He’d seen how Mark Webber was treated vs Vettel, why the hell would he want to take part in a repeat of the same disastrous situation? The new Honda engines were another unknown factor. I think with Renault, he wanted to do a Hamilton. He wanted to go to a midfield team, become the figurehead and build something great. In that regard… yeah, maybe he should’ve waited another year or two to see if Renault could go the distance long term. If he’d stayed, maybe Renault/Alpine wouldn’t be as shit as they are right now. But I don’t fault him for joining McLaren. McLaren had beaten them in the Constructor’s, and he was getting older, and that’s always a factor to consider in a sport that keeps getting younger and younger. Ultimately… McLaren sapped his fighting spirit. It’s sad to see, knowing where he was before. I would’ve liked to see him at Red Bull one last time, just to see what would happen. But he didn’t perform well enough, and this is a business with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line - they’re not gonna do that kind of craps shoot just for shits and gigs. I think he’ll be remembered not only for his media persona and kindness, but as a tragic figure, an Almost WDC. As for the goodbye… I think people just wanted a solid answer. Instead we got this long, drawn out, awkward death march. It tainted the entire race weekend, and he had to stand in that media pen and field questions that even he didn’t have the answers to. The indecision is what killed people, Red Bull’s refusal to give a straight answer. Especially after all this “Red Bull family” nonsense, which anyone with a job who claims to be “family” can tell you is a crock of crap. Nobody’s asking for a big parade or a chicane named after him. They were just asking that he be treated with more respect than they ultimately did. They did give him a second chance, and that’s absolutely nothing to sneeze at. But that doesn’t make his last race weekend any less fucked up and messy.
@iablla2 ай бұрын
People are more upset about how this was handled. Daniel's departure was a huge confusing mess. Red Bull were completely clumsy on the handling of the firing of Daniel. If Red Bull would have been upfront and clear, people would have accepted it better.
@pepekube2 ай бұрын
Except that he should have been gone from F1 years ago already given his poor performance. These teams were in fact way too kind and hopeful giving him all these endless chances, while he failed to deliver over and over again.

@@pepekube Suuuure, but why they couldn't they just say that Singapore was his last race officially instead of leaving everyone confused? Since Liam already knew couple weeks ago that he was going to replace Daniel, why wait so long to announce it? It shouldn't have been a problem to announce already on that weeks thursday or friday or something.
@pepekube2 ай бұрын
@@iablla I guess they were not sure either what to do with him. Christian Horner seemed to have been the biggest Ricciardo believer out there, but eventually even he lost his patience. DR is one of the richest drivers on the grid, without even having any proper race results since 2018. Let's not forget that McLaren has paid DR tens of millions to NOT race in 2022, that's how much of a disaster this guy was.
@iablla2 ай бұрын
@@pepekube I get that. But it doesn't this couldn't have been handled better. Daniel wasn't performing well before Austria, but he was starting to improve after Austria. Although not in the speed wanted. But I hope the best for him. And I am happy to have Liam in the grid, for now atleast.

if you want to look honestly at what destroyed Daniels career its all of us ! Daniel drives amazing when people support him in a positive way when someone builds a car for him around him when someone praises his efforts when press and fans speak positive about him problem is in the real world everyone is a jealous bully that find comfort in destroying other people's lives and negativity rips a huge hole in Daniels heart . Red bull likes to play with people's emotions they build you up make you into a legend then rip the carpet out from under your feet moving onto new projects so the spot light is always on them . they don't care if they hurt you its always about them not the driver . so if you want to blame someone for his failures take a look in the mirror . imagine someone at your work place every day telling you how shit you are at your job then those same people telling everyone world wide how shit you are at your job telling your parents how shit you are telling your lovers friends nephew niece do you still think you could perform at your best after 3 years of being treated this way social media destroyed Athletes careers yet he still smiles waves to us all shows us love and respect and we just treat him with disrespect 😥 hope you all feel proud

You acknowledged Daniel had nothing but engine failures in his Renault days but dont acknowledge the fact that vettel lost to Danny that season with the same Renault engine failures. I find you guys a little bias. Vettel had so many more failures then Danny had and you all think he beat vettel fair and square. Vettel went on to Ferrari and almost beat Mercedes to another championship but failed due to his own mistakes then pretty sure beating both Red bulls that season. Point is Danny has never been that great. Look up your facts also and no! Facts don't come from drive to survive

I still remember so vividly Daniel calling out Lando during an interview off camera saying something like "I'm gonna destroy you next year." This was as he was about to come to Mclaren. Oooof, getting second hand embarrassment from it. Drive to Surive could go the 'No Chill' mode and use that clip when covering his exit episode.

His legacy is fairly simple in my opinion. One of the nicest guys off the track, one of the most overrated guys on the track, usually beaten by his own teammates and only lucky to be driving the very strong RB car in the beginning of his career, which allowed him to score some wins. That's why so many people still expected miracles from him, but he simply never had what it takes.
