I like the quin color. I have perylene Maroon by Da Vinci and I use it with my earthy colors. It's quite close to Sennelier's Alizarin Crimson mix. It dries dull but closer to mass tone it becomes redder. I like to mix it with perylene green too for a dark neutral. It's my favorite red! Thanks for the video.

Hello Ifat, Thank you for some beautiful swatches and mixes. I was wondering if you could help me, from Tel Aviv to Sydney, Australia! I am trying to find a nice Raw Sienna Pbr7 to go in a blue ultramarine/cobalt blue +white/cerulean blue sky, to warm up the bottom of the sky with a first wash, as we have here! It has to be liftable for the clouds, and hopefully I prefer non granulating, so my tests were done with the cobalt white, as when it is mixed it has less granulation. Mixing white into the mix, stops the granulation in the other two blues too. Every other colour I use, can granulate as I love it, just like you do. But for my skies, I like a clean almost chalky, gouache like look. I rarely use Cerulean, but I know a lot of artists do. My preferred ultramarine is Schmincke Ultramarine finest for a sky. I use cobalts that are handmade, and love them when mixed with white...I don't have a known brand preference yet! I know I can find a warm yellow (neutral glow) that stays grey when mixed for a sky! Jane Blundell says in her site that a Pbr7 is good for a sky. I mainly have PY43, in my collection, so far I have made greens! I am still going through my handmades, it isn't a colour I buy. Some of my handmades look like ochre and white, so I will try these next. Maybe Jarosite? I got a bit behind, so some don't have pigment information, and some handmades don't have pigment names... Do you have any hints from your supply about the brands that will make a grey? Do you have raw sienna in DS? Considering buying the lavender by DS, as this is the closest colour I love for a sky. I often have to hand mix my own blue with gouache, and thin it out on the paper as a wash.... Other watercolour artists like Liron, also from Tel Aviv, use cool reds as an in between the yellows and blues in sunsets. Lindsay, the Frugal crafter uses Pbr7s' in skies that are neutralizing, so she starts with a burnt sienna that is PR101 or Pbr7. Thanks for your work. I love your video simplicity. Hi Eliza, Good morning from Tel Aviv🌻😊. if you like gouache like skyes in grey, Shmincke's Titanium Gold Ochre PBr24 create it with ultramarine blue, and the mix does'nt look granulating, because PBr24 looks like gouache. Daniel Smith raw Sienna will also create a grey with cobalt/ultramarine blue, but it is granulating, and their Monte Amiata Natural Sienna is less granulating and creates a grey with cobalt blue or ultramarine. I will later this day do some mixes for you, and do a video, or send them by mail.

@@ifatflower wow thank you Ifat, so much for the tips off the top of your head! Yes was considering the Monte Amiata Natural Sienna.. I will have to look at the titanium gold ochre by Schmincke, and I didn't consider a PBR24. Not sure why? I am happy to send you some hand made half pans of your choice back to you as a thank you gift. I do warn you in advance Ifat, It is a bit of a unicorn (just like finding non granulating warm blues). Once you are on the path of finding the right grey, non granulating mix, it is a bit of an epic story, which I started months ago. I like to make branches against the sky, so I like the texture/colour/contrast to be more forward in a cherry blossom branch. I also go to Bondi beach to sketch one particular spot often, and the sky there, is often milky bluish grey with the warm yellow near the horizon. The little houses and buildings looking North from South Bondi, also have warm creamy looking ochres and terracotta tiles, mixed with newer apartments. All far away...but very cute! I may just have to buy a few more DS colours now, on my non buying period... (Sigh, it never leaves us you know!) I get a lot of mine from Singapore, Alice "The watercolour hoarder" on Etsy does 1/4 pans of known artist brands. In kindred spirit Eliza Australia 2:35pm

@@michemman I was also on a no buying period, till my birthday😃, watercolors are so beautifull that I want to eat them! I thought about another nongranulating color: Indanthron blue. I will later do the color mixing and make a video about mixed greys. I am now going to film the Schmincke palette filling with the rest of the colors and some color mixing with this palette.

@@ifatflower Beautiful. Yes, Indanthrones are warm great, and non granulating, I love them, but I don't use them often? but maybe I could make a mix with white. Thanks for the idea. :) I bought a tin with 12 Schmincke bright colours so I could add 12 of them with the super granulating ones. I was kind of counting on the super granulating yellows, oranges and greens. They were a bit gummy and light from the shire and volcano series. I have a few other palettes with Schminckes. A lot of tubes. I love the olive greens in the range of super granulating... I name my palettes, for particular subjects; Eg I have "The sky, sea, sand and shells", in a 24 pan, removed the tray, and added 40 half pans with colours in random order, so it looks like little mosaic tiles that fill the space. I added magnets and paddlepop sticks, and blue tack to keep it all tight. It has random colours, old favourites, and a cobalt white, an ochre with a white (both unknown handmades which I use so often) I don't like white in other things, just these two! A bit like small shell colours in the sandy water transition. I have done the sky, sea and sand, but not the shells yet! Have fun filming and editing! In kindred spirit Eliza xx
