2:23 The only downside with SoFi is that you have to have either a DD or 5k a month coming in to keep that high APY. Where as Capital One has no catch to earn your high APY
@FactStorm5 күн бұрын
Yes, that's the caveat.BUT if someone can afford to make the deposits and stay on track then they're only gonna gain from it..otherwise, for the sake of simplicity and little obligation, then Capital One 360 is great
@vitiligoboi5 күн бұрын
@FactStorm oh absolutely, but it should be mentioned and people need to be upfront because if you end up in a position where plans change in your life (i.e no job) then those benefits are gone within the following month and you aren't earning anything on your money. Also one small thing I couldn't stand with SoFi is that you have to manually change the reoccurring deposits if your paydays change, whereas Capital One gives me an option on the web to set up monthly, weekly, quarterly, or biweekly deposits into savings accounts.
@Daniel_Braun5 күн бұрын
Actually, that's not true at all and a common myth that I think SoFi needs to do a better job of explaining in their marketing! Per SoFi's terms on their website, "There is no minimum Direct Deposit amount required to qualify for the stated interest rate." (meaning 4.00% APY). The $5,000 transfer amount is to qualify for the full $300 bonus, but after that you only need any direct deposit activity to qualify for the higher rate 👍
@apadgettski5 күн бұрын
That’s what OP is saying; you need DD OR $5k/mo to get the high APR. Basically they really want to be your primary account which is cool but isn’t a simple as other competitors

At the end of the day, most banks will offer pretty similar benefits / rates according to the fed rate. Always been a fan of discover, had my first cc there and they’ve always been super nice, no problems over the years so i happily bank with them. Most ppl are busy comparing this rate to that one that’s 0.05% more, as long as it’s simple and you can sleep at night knowing your money is with them, that’s probably the best choice for you.

Young people with little credit history and likely having debt should always minimize costs, so get an intro credit card that gives you 1.5-2% back on purchases, and if you have a card, there are credit cards that offer good mileage points. An "all-rounder" card would be fit from my experience. Let's put it this way, I don't expect your average college student who is let's say 21 year old to have an Amex Gold card which incurs a high annual fee.

No actually, that's a common myth that I think SoFi needs to do a better job of explaining in their marketing.

@ thats what im saying… the 300 bonus is with the 5K transfer…
@Daniel_Braun5 күн бұрын
@@dieggarciaf6469 Ahhh sorry about that, I misread that you were talking about the $300 bonus! Yeah so on SoFi's website, their terms of that offer say, "The Direct Deposit Bonus Period begins when SoFi receives a Direct Deposit of $1 or more within the Promotion Period and ends 25 calendar days later" And then it says that you need $5,000 of deposits or more within that 25 day period after your first direct deposit is initiated to get the $300 bonus. So it's not a "per month" thing, but just $5,000 of direct deposits within 25 days to get that full bonus. Hopefully that clarifies it. Here's the page and the terms are at the bottom: danielbraun.me/SoFi 👍

I will NEVER deal with a bank that doesn't have a physical location with a person I can talk to. Because when something goes wrong, the person you're directed to in India won't help- ask me how I know!

Fair enough to seek a bank with in person locations - I think that's important for certain situations. But having an online HYSA can be good to have along with an in person bank option as well

Thanks for letting me know about this account as well! I’m looking to compile a list of other high yield savings accounts not on this list that also pay the highest rates. Do you use this account? And if you do then do you think it’s good?

Interest rates are variable and move pretty closely in line with the Fed adjusting rates - so it's something that every bank/high yield account does over time. But interest rates with HYSAs are relative, so it's all about getting a rate that's better than the national average

Any thoughts on CIT Bank?
@hnhan12275 күн бұрын
I have been using them for over a year. Their HYSA has been great. However, the only issue I have is adding their account to other external banks. Somehow, other banks are not able to lookup their account #. I call CIT customer service regarding this topic, but they said no one has reported this issue. If I add external banks to CIT's website, then that will work. I have been able to do transfers via this process and also make payments with no issue. So this is my only concern.

Seems fine and offers a good rate, but nothing special to me in term of features which is why these accounts were better in my opinion. They also require a $5,000 minimum for their best rate which I don't like

What about CIT BANK?

I am a beginner looking to start a HYSA and Bask bank's apr looks very alluring. Would you recommend to go with safer and established options like Capital One, Amex or is it alright to trust bask?
@Daniel_Braun5 күн бұрын
Any bank is an actual bank with FDIC insurance should be equally safe because of that feature. Personally I would trust any of those mentioned in this video as my top 7 accounts for that reason - it's really just about personal preference and features at that point. I'd recommend reading reviews and data points on Reddit as well to get a good sense of customer feedback 👍

Apple Card high yield saving while saving your Daily Cash back from the card is AWESOME.

Pretty good if that automation and simplicity is most important for someone! I just need them to remove the 1% back feature when using the physical card for me to actually recommend the Apple card over other 2% cards

@ My cash back is automatically deposited in my saving account daily without me doing anything. It’s 2% CB if I use my Apple Pay instead of the physical card and 3% in some stores.

Their APY goes up and down with the Fed's prime rate, which SoFi can't control. If their APY goes below 4% then I guarantee you that every other bank's APY will also be below 4%

It's not anything that SoFi is doing wrong, it's just the way the market moves naturally
