Thanks for the kind words. I'm sure you know plenty, and since you're obviously open-minded and willing to learn, the sky's the limit.

As always, I love your videos and your thought process. After 34 years of marriage, my wife and I never have fights over finances, kids, or horses. However, if you could give me guidance on the whole dinner thing that would be appreciated lol.

now I'm going to have to rewatch the video to see what I said about my wife. lol

LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! Trying to fix 2 horses who owner has let it stay with some very unsafe bas habitats. You’re so right, you’ve got to work ground work every single day consistency is key. And you just can’t FIX STUPID! Lol

your horse is adorable! thanks for the tips. when you are teaching a new horse groundwork, do you have to do the same groundwork lessons everyday or should you do one one day, then a different lesson the next, then switch. because my horse might get sick of doing the same lessons and refuse to follow me.
@DanielDauphin2 жыл бұрын
That all depends on the horse, their particular degree of gentleness/wildness, and how effectively the lessons are shown. You can certainly do more than one exercise per day. You can certainly over do exercises so that the horse winds up bored or frustrated. Knowing when they need more or when to quit only comes with experience.

Thanks for this video. May i ask one question - How do you fix the bridle in the mouth of this horse? I can't see any string around its neck.... 🤔🤔🤔 Thank you
@DanielDauphin2 жыл бұрын
If you mean the snaffle in the mouth during groundwork, it is on a simple piece of chordage. Just hard to see.

Do you have a video on how to teach your horse to ground tie? I looked, but couldn’t find one.

I don’t at this time. We will be doing a video like that for our website subscribers soon.

My Question is about Round Pens. I don't have one but am thinking of getting. I don't train colts and my horses are 8 and 9 but they could use some work as you discuss in this video and a round pen looks very handy???. What do you recommend ??? PS I have watch your video on building one. Is a free-standing on ok, or do you need the posts in the ground type??
@DanielDauphin4 жыл бұрын
Round pens are very nice to have, but not absolutely necessary. Free-standing is fine if you're working broke stock and not a bunch of wild colts. I try to always keep in mind that there's two kinds of pressure, direct and indirect. A round pen will allow you to use pressure indirectly. You'll be more engage and likely to use direct pressure (touch) with a lead rope or long line. If all I'm going to do in it is groundwork, then about 45-50 feet is perfect and won't work you too hard keeping the horse going. 60 and up is good for riding too, but does work you harder when working a loose horse. Hope that helps!

@@DanielDauphin Thanks very much for you quick thorough reply. I do watch a lot of horsemanship videos and your's is by far the BEST. I think it is bc I can understand you! With the others... I often get lost. Thanks again :)

Hello. I am from Chile and want to learn. Do you put the bit for the ground work? Can you show how you take the cord our of the leg in the other exercise?
@DanielDauphin3 жыл бұрын
Hello Maria from Chile! Thanks for all your great questions. When I am first starting a colt, I do like to put a bit hanging in their mouth when doing groundwork. This allows them to get comfortable with and learn to pack the bit while I am doing something productive. It basically is a good use of my time. I'll have to rewatch the video to understand what you mean about the cord on the leg.
@DanielDauphin3 жыл бұрын
I guess you mean the leading by the hind leg exercise? I simply walked up to her, picked up her foot, and loosened up the loop to take it off. That was just a standard ranch rope, 60 ft long.

When a knowledgeable person “desensitizes” - the items or situations become less intimidating but when well intentioned novices try it, they can cause the opposite effect. Speaking from experience. That pony in the 60’s never completely recovered from his “sacking out” ... made for years of harrowing rides past clotheslines and the realization that there are flags everywhere.
@DanielDauphin4 жыл бұрын
Yep. The real difference between desensitizing and sensitizing is ... timing.
