Open-quantum-system asymptotics: A guided tour
Besides its fundamental importance, the asymptotic evolution of open quantum systems is the theoretical background of various applications, e.g., in quantum information processing, quantum state preparation, and quantum associative memories.
In this talk we will delve into the features of the asymptotics of arbitrary quantum channels. First, we will show dimension-dependent universal upper bounds on the number of steady and asymptotic states of quantum evolutions [1], as well as its intriguing consequences.
Then, once we presented the general structure of the asymptotic subspace, the large-time dynamics and, in particular, its (non-)unitarity will be also discussed [2]. Moreover, the general results will be illustrated with simple examples.
