This was a relatively accurrate summary for Daniel Greene. Very short list of mistakes: - Lan does not tell Rand about Sheathing the Sword after their sparring session, he tells him right before Rand leaves Fal Dara. - Fain does not tell Rand that he will make him join the Dark One, for the simple fact that Fain is no longer on the Dark One’s team! He simply tells Rand that the Shadow’s minions are coming for both of them, although Rand doesn’t know what he means, and thinks he is referring to the Aes Sedai. - Verin is not a member of the party that sets out for the Horn. She joins it along the way, after Rand, Hurin & Loial have left the group. She is also NOT an Aes Sedai we’ve never met before. We see her with Moiraine & the Amyrlin before Rand is summoned to the audience, and she is there while the Amyrlin tells Rand that he’s the Dragon Reborn. In fact, she subtly helps Rand during the meeting by diverting the attention of the other Aes Sedai and giving him space to get his bearings. - Mat does not reaffirm his love for Rand, he only understands Rand’s behavior when Rand explicitly tells him he was being a dick to keep them safe. Mat thought it was a symptom of madness. Perrin is a little more understanding, given his perspective from the wolf stuff, but both of them make a point of avoiding him. That’s why Rand sleeps near the Portal Stone, because his friends don’t want him around. - This is a nitpick, but in the Portal Stone world, the Trollocs did not win the Trolloc Wars, they defeated Artur Hawkwing, who lived 1000 years after the Trolloc Wars. - Rand has been having dreams featuring Ba’alzamon since early in the prior book, and knows they are real and not a dream. - Rand’s response is not “for some reason” it is for the explicit purpose of not taking a side and making enemies of all the rivals of whoever’s invitation he accepts. He burns the invitations publically, so that people know he is not accepting them secretly. - Perrin is told by the wolves that something called “Shadowkiller” killed a bunch of Trollocs. He has no idea it’s Rand and he & Ingtar worry that it might be something WORSE than Trollocs. It’s not until they are catching up with Rand that Perrin realizes Rand is Shadowkiller. - Min does not escape the Seanchan. She is taken captive and kept as a hostage to make Egwene behave. - Verin does not come up to Rand and tell him she knows he can channel. Rand already knows she knows, because she was there when he discussed channeling with the Amyrlin. - No Borderlander soldiers sneak into the city. Just Ingtar. - Rand was stabbed in the side. As the picture in the video clearly shows. - The Whitecloaks do not push the Seanchan out, they are massacred right before the Heroes join the battle. - Min does not tell Rand she loves him, because she really doesn’t yet. She mostly expresses frustration at the fact that she’s stuck knowing it’s going to happen.

he also left out Nynaeve's trials
@Gunleaver5 жыл бұрын
@@Cully0488 Yeah, but I could see omitting that from the summary, as long as you don't go around mis-attributing their cause and effects. It isn't really pertinent to the plot of this book that Nynaeve went through the test or even that she's an Accepted instead of a novice like Egwene & Elayne.

I like these summaries. I’ve read this book about 5 times, starting in 1998 the first time. Thus summary is mostly right but there are errors. Biggest example is the whitecloaks were actually destroyed by the Heroes of the Horn, who then defeated the Seanchan after a back and forth battle that mimicked the battle between Rand and Ishamael in the sky. When Ishamael gained ground, the Seanchan did as well, and when Rand killed Ishmael, the Heroes of the Horn defeated the Seanchan. But you left out the best part of all- Artur Hawking led the Heroes of the Horn and called Rand by the name Lews Therin, who was the original Dragon, confirming for certain that Rand was indeed the Dragon Reborn.

Just for the sake of pedantry I thought I would point out that the Amyrlin Seat doesn't bring the Horn of Valere or the seal to the Dark One's prison with her to Shienar, Moiraine finds them at the Eye of the World at the end of the previous book. Also Verin doesn't initially set off with Rand et al after the Horn and the dagger, she catches up to them later on. Oh, and Min gets caught with Egwene by the Seanchan when Liandrin betrays them but since she can't channel she's not made into a magic slave. I've probably spelt some of the made up fantasy names wrong and come off as a total hypocrite with this comment haha. I hate the Seanchen. Robert Jordan studied war tactics and could have made them a lasting threat throughout the books. Instead they are a bunch of overconfident idiots that are constantly infighting . Jordan could have been more subtile . We would already hate them because of the way they treat people , especially women. The fight in the sky was wasted. I loved the early books but felt they were designed like video games with Rand fighting "the boss." I hope this is handled differently in the series . The ultimate bad guy Forsaken wetr given too many chances too early to wipe out the boys. Ismael's "serve me" strategy was stupid. The boys would have been better served by narrowly escaping direct confrontation until ready to face it. Hopefully the Amazon series will cut down the number of forsaken and make them a true menace to be feared . Finally Lanfear would have been more a great on the fence Forsaken if she had more motivation other than : "you are mine Lew Theron."

I know that it's 3 years too late, but Rand isn't the 'Next Dragon Reborn', he is 'The Dragon Reborn' and all other claimants to the title were 'False Dragons'.

So I’m on book 4 right now, recently finished TGH, the “aes Sendai with the hunting party” is Verin, right? And she joined only after Rand left? And isn’t she very significant since she’s one of the only people who know Rand is the dragon?

BTW, exactly why didn't Moiraine detect what Liandrin was doing?
@countspyder47694 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure that she could sense Liandrin was channeling which is why she is super suspicious. However, as happens many times in the future, even tho she can tell Liandrin was channeling she has no idea what she actually did.

I gathered the 100 battled both the Seanchen and the White Cloaks and wiped out the White Cloaks. The surviving Seanchen sailed home to admit their defeat. Was I wrong?

Wait. How long were they in their “other lives,” so to speak, after using the stone to travel? I know it’s months in their actual reality, but how long did they all *feel* like they were in those other possible lives?
